Pros: Its cheap, it give me USB 3.0 via the PCI express,The only thing I can find that does that! it has fan controls, all really cool. The SD card reader and the others work fine and are what you would expect. I have not hooked up the CPU temp yet, so I can't tell you about that. It is very cool that it comes with a SATA power bus and a cords, you can grab any STAT internal hard drive and and plug it in very neat for dumping back ups and what not.
The fan controls are manual, which is fine with me as I ran out of motherboard fan leads. so I can set my two large case fans on low.
Cons: It has painted on the front "5.25 Media Dashboard" as if you can't tell? It is not removable sticker or something. I guess the guy would designs this would paint CAT on his cat.
On my large tower with the dashboard installed at near the top the PCI Express cable barely reached. So if you like to route your cables neatly the cords on this are a bit short. I could not route the USB motherboard cable either and had to go direct. So my very neat case is not so neat now.
Overall I like it, and like how it works. Save the CF card reader that thing is crap. I gave it three stars because all of the other stuff works well.
This then is merely adequate - but not fantastic.
Before you ask - yes I have verified that the device is plugged into my power supply (and tested the power supply). Other USB headers don't seem to have this problem - just this one. I don't know if mine is faulty, or if its the design... Any way, as long as you don't mind using only one port at a time its fine.
Edit 6-3-17 the sd port has ceased to function.
Edit: 10/10/17 the rest of it has ceased to function.
I go to put an SD card in the slot, and notice that the card doesn't seem to be latching onto anything and is going in unusually far. I took a flashlight to it and saw that all of the card slots were about an inch away from the front of the panel. I go ahead and open the reader up and see that the board that has the card slots attached to it was just floating around inside because the scews to hold it in place weren't there at all... not loose, not unscrewed; literally went out of the factory unfinished. Luckily I had the last one still lying on the counter and I just used the screws from inside of it, but at that point I'd had to take apart my PC to swap them out, take apart my PC again to remove the replacement one, diassemble two readers to swap those screws, reassemble the readers, and then reinstall and put back together my PC. For now at least it works, so fingers crossed.
And before I forget; don't use the bracket screws that come with this. They strip as if they are made of play-doh. If you have to, go to a PC repair place and they'll give you some for free. I couldn't believe how easily the bracket screw stripped removing the replacement one to get those board screws installed. Just overall junk.
I'd recommend searching for a different brand, but all of these that have similar features honestly seem to look exactly the same with different wording on the front cover if that. so, I'd just recommend spending and extra $20-$30 and getting something by a more well-known branding because I'd honestly be surprised if this thing lasts through the month. I'll even update this review if it lasts a year.
If this review came off negative, especially for something that's relatively "cheap" then I apologize but I've got to be honest as this just wasn't worth the hassle so far.
