About the Author
A third-generation army officer, General V.K. Singh served with both the 2nd and 25th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment. A highly decorated soldier, he was the twenty-fourth Chief of the Indian Army. In the course of his tenure he took a principled stand on multiple issues and this often brought him into conflict with powerful lobbies both inside and outside government. Writer and filmmaker Kunal Verma has produced many critically acclaimed films for the Indian armed forces that include The Standard Bearerson, The NDA and a documentary on the Kargil War. He has also authored The Long Road to Siachen: The Question Why and the Northeast Trilogy.

I bought this book expecting to find apologies on why he pursued his age controversy but was very pleasantly surprised when it was not so. I finished the book in 3 sittings - so engrossing!
Gen VKS is no ordinary soldier - he was consistently the cream of his class whether at training at premier institutes in India and the US or in commanding formations. VKS is a first rate soldier and the way he overcame many obstacles in his career is an inspiration to all of us - military or civil. He writes elegantly about how a Brigadier tried to spike his career and how he came out on top. In closing I will say this - VKS is a great combination of a first rate soldier and strategic thinker - he excelled in both, a very rare combination. His passion for the ordinary soldier and conviction to do what is right bleeds through. His propensity to get into trouble with the media is because he acts like a soldier - straight talking and holding no punches - exactly what we need from our soldiers. I hope he gets to be minister of defence - that area needs severe shaking up and VKS is the man to do it!
HELLO AMAZON, CAN I GET AUDIO BOOK OF THIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
Second part picks up well when some real issues are highlighted. At the same time it brings out hollowness of our systems.
