I've used my Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard (Black/Silver) for a decade now until the metal connections in the membrane started crumbling apart from old age. Looked everywhere for a suitable replacement that doesn't cost $150+ before finding this gem. It's pretty much the exact same thing as my G11 & in some ways it's even better. Build quality feels so solid I expect it'll last me another 10 years, or more.
Snatch these up while you can! I expect their prices will skyrocket in the years to come just like G11, which was only $70 new & is now being sold for $150-$300.
However, there is one really annoying issue that I've encountered: when my computer goes into low-power sleep, it keeps the USB ports powered. This keyboard is intelligent enough to go to sleep and turn off the backlight, but after sleeping for about 24 hours or so, it refuses to wake up. The backlight turns back on, but no combination of keypresses will get the thing to work again. The only solution I've found is to unplug and replug the USB connector, which entails awkwardly groping the back of my computer while crawling under my desk.
The pass-through USB port is convenient, but just that - a pass-through, not a hub. To use the keyboard and an attached device, both USB ports must be connected to your computer.
I am running the latest firmware (1.07) as of this review.
This is a very reliable keyboard and I haven't had a single problem with the macros working consistently. It feels sturdy and looks rather industrial. The feel of the keys is good and I like the layout for the most part. The only thing I wish was designed a little differently (and has me rating it 4 stars instead of 5) is the macro keypad which is a single block of 18 buttons. Interestingly, the digital representation of the keyboard in the Configuration program shows the macro keypad as 3 groups of 6 keys, which would be a better design. My problem is it's easy to hit the wrong macro key if you're not paying attention. 3 groups of 6 would make it easier to use by touch. Also, the Esc and G3 keys are a little too close together and it's easy to hit the wrong one if you're not careful.
There are so many, you have to make a txt file to remember what you put under each key and what profile you created. Smoothe key action, nice clean smooth edge at the bottom of the board ( without the wristrest). It's a bit long and large when you do add the palmrest. The intructions on the backlighting are kind of vague so it takes a while to get the lighting star8> I would have givin it 5 stars if you could program each key a different color. There are 16.8 million color variations....I think I used 20 Lmao
Great Board for the price. I love it!!!
