But one of the lock tabs already broke off, now we're down to 3. Also the ice pack freezes with a bump which does not fit into the case. I tried running it under hot water to completely melt it then i refreeze it flat...but that still don't work. For some reason the ice pack freezes with a bump. See photo.
Cons: The lid doesn't latch down tight unless the freezer pack is pressed up underneath the top compartment to take up space (or unless you overfill the bento, but then your food gets squished). Also, my freezer pack warped in the freezer so I have to insert it a very specific way, or else it won't fit. It doesn't lay flush against the underside of the top compartment anymore. Also, the latches on my bento box don't seem to close evenly - the latches on the ends will hold the lid down pretty securely, but then the latches on the side swing free.
Bottom line: Seems better/higher-quality than the competition, but not perfect. I still enjoy using it.
The Ice Pack fits in a recessed underneath an area of the top tray. It fits in rather tightly and there is really no easy way to remove it which is necessary if you plan on microwaving the contents. There is a rubber vent plug on the top of the lunch box which I believe is to remove the pressure that may build up from microwaving the contents. I am not sure if it is necessary to open this vent prior to microwaving or not. I don't recall any instructions that mentioned this. I always do because I didn't want the built up pressure to result in a rupture although most likely the plug would pop first. The unit was a bit pricey but it would have been worth that if it did a better job of sealing all the individual sections. I still like it and use it about 50% of the time but I find myself using small Tupperware type containers for the liquid items which kind of defeats the purpose of having this lunch box to do the job. It holds a reasonable amount of food to satisfy me for lunch which is a plus. I give it three stars because I don't like the internal leaking between compartments and I don't like that I have to find a butter knife or other similar item to pry the ice pack out of its location every time I prepare my meal.
I did not receive this item as a promotion and have given a fair and honest evaluation of its performance as it relates to my experience.
