But the very first impression of the narration and storytelling doesn't make me feel like that.
I am fond of mystery novels and this one pleased me. But the fact that I continued to read was because I was curious about the story.
The storytelling won't provide you the momentum to make you not cease reading.
For those who will be trying out a mystery novel for the first time, I don't feel it will be a great read for you but yes, if you can get to the half of the story. Like just maintaining the persistence and tolerating the presentation elements, then I think you will enjoy the book a lot.
The story is based on the murder of Inspector's daughter, and him trying to uncover this mystery.
It was quite a fascinating story.
Though a little simple enough to hold you once you get to the core.
I guess if the blurb was more descriptive, it would have been easier for you to judge whether or not this book is for you.
Relying on my advice I guess it will be more enjoyable if you go into it with almost zero expectation.
The book might not hold many twists for you but definitely it performs well on the beginners level.
The character-based narration fits well for this story, I am glad that the author chose this, though I feel it would have been a challenge to write in this narration style.
The characters are nice but the personality is not kinda the one you fall in love with.
It can be considered a short read and for that, the composition and the balance are very nice.
With a reader mindset, if you like the story go for it, and if you have a choice, compare a little.
Sandhya is brutally murdered by a man in her college and the CID head Vikram appoints to find the murderer ,Vikram also looses his sister two years back like this and police could not find Priya's murderer but how's Sandhya murder connect with Priya it is really interesting to read.
Story is full of twist and turns and some scenes really makes me emotional too. narration is good, characters are also well defined.Overall a good read.
The story is that of the murder cases set in Chennai where two girls, both of them were friends, are butchered and Inspector Vikram is given the charge to unravel the mystery. What follows thereafter is the sequence of baffling moments elaborating on love, jealousy, insecurity, misunderstandings, betrayals leading to deaths. I would not be spilling the beans but believe me, if you savor thriller, you gotta read this one.
At the onset, the book seemed fairly simple to me. A couple of deaths have occurred, the Inspector's family life of three has been described, the gruesome deaths inflicting grief upon the bereaved family members come into the picture and you think it's going to be easy. Just hold on to the plot, move ahead and towards the latter half, things start coming punching you right in your face. More deaths occur, ugly past is dug, links are established and the search for the perpetrator becomes crazy. That's where you start guessing the answer but the end leaves you stunned.
I loved how the author created a simple plot and developed it masterfully to impact its reader. The writing is fine and the narration keeps you flipping the pages (I did finish it in two sittings but could have read it in one go). The well-sketched characters get ample room to contribute to the story and express their voices. The fact that the book has been divided into chapters makes reading a suspense thriller easy. A character-driven plot that maintains its secrecy displays the author's flair in writing.
The measured pace of the story with layered structure keeps a reader engrossed. It indeed makes up for an amazing thriller read especially if you are a beginner. The extremely well-crafted narrative has got brilliant treatment to create a truly commendable book. I'd definitely look forward to reading more by the author.
There are several “Oh F***” and Eureka moments when you will feel you figured it out but it won’t be so. I did not see the climax coming and it opened a whole new side to the storyline.Special mention to the embossments on the cover...
