The clamp attached easily to the frame of my computer desk, and the bendy arm that holds the screen allows me to adjust it up to the microphone, or out of the way when I'm not recording. The screen itself is a plastic hoop with material (similar to pantyhose material, though a bit thicker) stretched over it in two layers (one on the front, one on the back). This allows the sound of your voice to get to the mic, but gets rid of the extra air on those troublesome consonants. It's worth every penny for the improvements it makes to the sound of your recordings, but luckily you won't have to spend a lot of pennies - I paid around $12 for mine!
If you are thinking about getting into podcasting or other home recording, I would say that this is a must-have item...this paired with a good-quality microphone (expect to spend the bulk of your "investment" in recording on the mic!) with allow you to make professional sounding recordings right at your home computer!
It has a nice feel to all parts of its construction, including the mesh. I was worried when I bought my desk stand that I was going to have problems attaching and keeping attached this pop filter, but to my surprise it has easily stayed on without a problem.
The gooseneck pipe/tube (that is adjustable) is weighty enough to hold all day when I'm doing my recordings, and the link par that binds to the stand is tight enough to hold with movement of the entire stand (in fact the tube/pipe that connects the mesh filter to the link part of the stand does not even lose its place during movement at all).
I highly recommend this pop filter to someone who wants one that is going to stay put through any movement in a normal setting and that doesn't have time to be propping up the mesh filter all the time.
This works just as expected - and I expected it to be on the cheap side, which it is, and I expected it to be hard to clamp, and I expected the goose neck to slide out of place some.
While all of that sounds bad, it's a cheap pop filter. I wanted a cheap one, got it, and it works as so. If you fiddle with it, it works good. You have to re-adjust some times. It doesn't clamp very good on round stands. It's actually better with straight edges. I use it a lot for singing scratch vocals near my computer desk, so I mount it to the desk and rotate it in front of the mic stand. For that purpose - this is totally worth it for the price. The clamp on the filter as come loose comes loose and it rotates some, but only after 10 or 20 minutes maybe or with constant movement.
If you're using this for a more professional use, you could probably find something better. The filter itself is great quality. You lose popping, breathing, hissing "S" sounds, etc. Just the mounts, neck, and clamps aren't that great. If you're DIY like I am, then this is a good choice. But if you're really dedicated to getting a great sound - release worthy sounds - then go a with a more reputable brand.
As for how well it works: Pretty much as well as it could. It has two layers of material with a space between them so you have to be breathing like Darth Vader to get any kind of puff past it. The stalk has plenty of ability to be twisted to where you need it, and is stiff enough to not flop around. One aspect of this thing is its size -- it's big, really big, so if you're accustomed to reading a teleprompter above or below your microphone to know what you're supposed to be saying (or singing) then you may have to adjust the filter. But that size means it definitely will give your microphone sufficient coverage to prevent puffs from making it go pop.
The gooseneck holds its position, so setting it in place and using the mic without having to re-adjust makes things easy. The screw mount holds on to the mic stand just fine and doesn't slide around.
After owning it for 4 years, I broke the first one of these I purchased (my fault entirely, it got crushed in the car) and immediately purchased another as a replacement. At $10, why go with anything else? The CAD pop filter is an excellent value.
