Does this book deserve a 5 star rating? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
The content is very mediocre. There is nothing that wouldn't know if you are in the industry for just a couple of years working as a software engineer.
If your manager doesn't understand anything about micro-services, you can gift him this book so as to convince him. He can have a nice overview of why such an architecture is good. The content doesn't go any further. It is just a waste of money if you are an experienced person and want to get a deeper or newer understanding of the systems.
Who should read this book ?
Fresh engineers, operation engineers (just to refresh their knowledge) planning on working with software teams.
Who should NOT read this book ?
People who are already working on MS and exploring to learn something new.
However, book is systematic and really great for academic curriculum.
If you are looking for details about how to design, develop and implement Microservices, then this book is definitely not for you. This book covers concepts in very breif, mostly written like a blog post, about MS architecture, then a recommendation "For further details read so and so book". Disappointed.
