"The secrets burrowed in this seemingly placid small town...are so suburban noir they would make David Lynch clap with glee...[Moriarty] is a fantastically nimble writer, so sure-footed that the book leaps between dark and light seamlessly; even the big reveal in the final pages feels earned and genuinely shocking.”—Entertainment Weekly

I loved all her other books too, specially "What Alice Forgot" and "The Husband's Secret"
An incident with the parents has happened at a school event. They don't tell what has happened till the very end. But there is an officer interviewing parents. All the parents have issues among themselves and in their families. So, what they answer may not be true (most of the gossip about what they've heard). Along with this investigation after the incident, story is narrated starting several months before the accident.
It's also an important book as it talks about certain social issues in the society.
the climax is downright 'filmi'. also, whether her twins could ultimately be reformed, remains unanswered.
