Basic Grammar in Use, Third edition, is the lower-level text in the Grammar in Use series. It focuses on the fundamental grammar structures normally taught in basic or introductory courses. Each of the 116 units in the Student's Book is presented in a two-page spread, with simple explanations on the left-hand page and practice exercises to check understanding on the right. This edition, without answers, is ideal for classroom use.

I have been studying English at different schools in Brazil, the UK and the US, and on my own as well, for more than 25 years, and I have gone through many different books.
My first language is Brazilian-Portuguese and I used to find it very hard to master grammar aspects such as the Present Perfect ( and other Perfect aspects ). Then one day I found a copy of English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy at a public library in my hometown and for the very first time I understood the Present Perfect aspect. Later I became an ESL teacher myself and I found out more about other books by Raymond Murphy and I made it a point to adopt copies of Basic Grammar in Use to all of the beginning students I teach.
Thanks a lot to Raymond Murphy and Cambridge for such a wonderful tool for students and teachers as well.
