If you're familiar with Barbie's history, you likely know that Chelsea is actually a revamped version of "Kelly", who is (more or less) the same character in Barbie's world - an adorable blond little girl who is the youngest of Barbie's sisters. Darrin seems to be the revamped version of Kelly's best friend, Tommy (and I'm guessing that's why he has a "T" on his shirt in the picture here).
Darrin/Tommy's (I personally like his old name better, but call him what you want) outfit is very adorable, and almost exactly as pictured. The sole difference I see is that instead of the letter "T", my doll has the number "27" on his shirt. The outfit can be removed for fashion play, which is how I think all dolls should be. I love his shirt and shoes, but can make two small complaints. His pants do not have velcro in the back and have very tight elastic sewn on, making them a bit more difficult to put on and take off than they should be. His "molded underwear" also appears to be similar to that of panties, with small bows. My guess is this is because they recycled the same body mold for Chelsea and all of her friends, but I'd rather him have either "boys underwear" (like Ken's) or simply a pure and clean finish, even if it isn't showing when he wears clothes.A small plastic holder keeps his hat in place, but it can be cut off without damaging the hat if removal is desired.
He does come with one accessory, which is his cute little soccer ball. It's definitely small and not proportioned for larger dolls, but it's perfect for his size. Obviously, it compliments the unified "soccer" theme in his outfit.
Overall, I love this doll. He's completely adorable, but don't pay nearly $30+ for him. Wait until he's actually stocked by Amazon or you see him on shelves. I was very fortunate to only have to pay $7 to get this sweet little boy in my collection, and I hope other collectors can do the same!
