The book also exposes the hypocrisy of the state Congress leadership, whose leader, as the United Province (as UP was called then), CM was Govind Ballabh Pant, who just not ignored it, but gave tacit support to the local district admin that was totally hand-in-gloves with the Hindutva forces. It also proves that there isn’t any truly secular party in India (that observes a total separation of religion and politics); while Congress is programmatically communal, BJP is openly and ideologically. This policy of soft Hindutva is steadfastly followed by Congress as even Rajiv Gandhi with a massive majority while passed the Muslim Law Amendment Bill, on the one hand to please Muslim fundamentalist, he unlocked the gates of this Ram Temple in Ayodhya to suit Hindu counterparts. Rao also gave tacit support to the destruction of the Mosque in 1991. Now, Rahul Gandhi is pursuing the same policy and being projected as a Janeudari Hindu. Little wonder, people opt for the original stuff: the Hindu Nationalist Party; the contractor of Hindutva; not its pale shadow!
A must for those who want to understand the origin of the most contentious issue of independent India and learn about its true culprits!
A must-read for anyone interested in this sordid episode of Modern India's history.
