But the print job was substandard. This is a book manufactured in India from a PDF and printed in a very slipshod fashion. I have to be grateful that it is being kept in print, and the price was right. It is painful to see such a precious text treated this way.
The Awarif Ul Ma'arif is a wealth of knowledge about the science of tasawwuf; it goes into subject details in the various topic sections and brings light and life out of the darkness of letters on paper. It is a valuable piece for those interested in the foundations of sufism and the intricate aspects that relate to being a shaykh as well as a talibe/disciple. This book is a manual for daily study and practice that was written by our illustrious Shaykh 'Abu Hafs Umar al-Suhrawardi. The Awarif Ul Ma'arif is a rare treasure chest of wisdom just like The Mystical Philosophy of Ibn Arabi by A.E. Affifi; these are esoteric islamic writings that are actually worthy of being read and studied by the students of tasawwuf regardless of the tariqa or the marabout... Peace
