I went through the updates for Windows and there were no problems, all straight forward and glitch less.
The so-so: The only thing that could be improved perhaps is the touchpad. It's not very sensitive and I usually have to tap more than one time to get something to register. But I am going to be using a USB mouse anyway so I don't rally care too much.
The description says this machine is semi-spill proof and rugged- made for grade schoolers. This should be a perfect travel laptop for doing non-memory intensive chores. Throw it in your backpack and forget it. If it get's stolen or crushed, not the end of the world. What a bargain!
I will post another update after my trip and relate how well it stood up-
UPDATE: Returned from 5 months abroad- over 20 commercial flights and numerous taxis, subways, buses- this notebook withstood it all and still runs like a champ. Wi-Fi throughout the journey was spot on and I even got used to the touchpad so as I did not even use the USB mouse I brought with me. I can't rave enough about this device for a travel companion that is lightweight, sturdy and reliable.
FANTASTIC KEYBOARD, I love typing on it
SUPER PORTABLE, It’s easy to fit into any school bag, and is light weight
SPEED, if you’re a computer junkie you may have a different opinion on this, but i honestly feel that it’s pretty fast. It does occasionally lag, but remember you’re only paying around $200 for this laptop
DISPLAY, granted it’s not the same look as a $800 laptop, but it’s clear, you can adjust the brightness, and I honestly I have no issues with it.
TOUCHPAD, I know some people were having issues with the touchpad so when I bought the laptop I also bought a wireless mouse, however I have no issues with the touchpad.
VOLUME BUTTONS, On my laptop the volume keys do not work whatsoever so i have to manually turn the volume up or down, just like you would on a laptop from your childhood. For me in particular this isn’t super important as I will only be using this laptop for school work.
GENERAL USE, It does occasionally lag, but if you’re just typing on this laptop or reading on it it shouldn’t be a big deal, and even so it doesn’t really lag unless you have a bunch of tabs open.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs something small for school, that they can type, read, and research on. I bought this laptop because my nicer one is very bulky and heavy and difficult to transport to and from school. It’s especially important for me to have a laptop this upcoming year as i’m taking many courses that will rely on me completing my work online. So again whether you’re a high school or college student, or even an adult or parent, this laptop will definitely get the job done.
** I will update this review as time goes by **
The audio quality from the speakers is good enough I can listen to videos without the need for headphones.
Works fine for other things like web mail and general web surfing. Amazon works fine in fact I am typing this review using the device.
The keyboard is a bit noisy like others have noted, but does not take away from its ability to do its job.
Small.. lightweight... and works... what else could you want from a Netbook type device.
