CeraM!X - Heatsink Coating Tech. 50% Larger area for heat dissipation with the revolutionary ceramics-coating technology Innovative ceramics effectively conducts heat away from the system. It replaces traditional anti-oxidant to dissipate heat better with its microscopic irregular surface and enlarged area. Better cooling leads to overall improvement in system stability. TUF Thermal Radar Real Time Temp Detection and Heat Removal The TUF Thermal Radar monitors temps in critical parts of the motherboard in real time, automatically adjusting fan speeds to make sure the system maintains high stability without overheating. It consists of multiple sensors for various components on the motherboard, giving users the ability to monitor each area, while increasing options for fan control housed inside the chassis. The Thermal Radar automatically calculates ideal fan speeds based on different parameters selected by users for each component, keeping everything cooler and longer lasting. New DIGI Power Control Leading digital power control solution with the best quality New DIGI Power Control includes multiple digital voltage controllers, allowing ultra-precise modulation and tuning for both the CPU and DRAM. This innovative and industry-leading ASUS technology provides extremely accurate voltage tuning for better efficiency, stability and performance. UEFI BIOS Flexible and Easy BIOS Interface ASUS UEFI BIOS offers a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard-only BIOS controls to enable more flexible and convenient mouse input. Users can easily navigate the UEFI BIOS with the smoothness of their operating system. Quick and simple overclocking and setup sharing is facilitated by the F12 hotkey BIOS snapshot feature. The exclusive EZ Mode displays frequently-accessed setup info, while the Advanced Mode is for experienced performance enthusiasts that demand far more intricate system control, including detailed DRAM information. I have never had a motherboard work as well as this one. Seriously, for the money it is absolutely the best purchase you can make.
I do graphic design for print and handle very large raster files, paired with the rest of my setup, this thing is the beginning of a great machine.
If you build your own desktops, the motherboard is an easy piece to cheap out on. If you go to box stores, they'll sell you the combo of a lightning fast processor with a chincy mobo (ones around here will throw in the mobo for free w/rebate in certain cases.)
If you prefer AM3+ chipset such as myself, this is the mobo for you.
Build: This thing just feels solid. Great weight (not too heavy), but enough for it to feel significant.
Performance: This thing absolutely crushes anything I can throw at it. Even without tweaking the bios, in bench testing this thing on default settings the mobo handled very well.
I'm writing this two years after purchasing the equipment. That alone should tell you something. I do not think I will need to upgrade my system for another few years and it's been a while since I could say that. This mobo was built very forward compatible so even if I need to upgrade components I will not need to swap mobo.

Advice: do not buy here or anywhere else "open box" versions of this board. There was a VERY good reason someone sent those back previously. For peace of mind, spend the few bucks on the insurance. Drink coffee instead of energy drinks for two of your gaming sessions, and you have made that money back already.
Being on a strict monthly budget, my upgrade needs to be done in phases and the motherboard was the best place for me to start. AMD 8350 Wraith CPU is next component (coming soon). I was surprised what a difference this board has made in my entire computer. I'm VERY picky about keeping my system "clean" (scanned and defragged OFTEN). With the A8N, my "cold" boot averaged about a minute to a minute and 5 seconds. Using the moved components from my old board to this M5, it dropped my "cold" boot to between 36 and 45 seconds with NO changes to my (mostly clean) startup setup from the hard drive. It also has improved the speeds in my fiber 100Mbs internet. Before the change I was downloading, on average, around 87-92 Mbs. With the change, the download is hovering around 98.5. (being a little facetious) These results make me wonder if, when done, my computer will cold boot immediately as soon as I press the power button once it's finished with the planned SSD, and other new components LOL. Bottom line is that, while I'm NOT a gamer, it would seem the final build will turn out to be a "flame thrower" which makes me VERY happy. It's also a build that should last me through at least 8k UHD which is on its way with the graphics card I've chosen (also a bit in the future).
My computer is my only source of entertainment as I have no satellite, cable tv, etc. I use a 4k UHD 43" tv for a monitor. You can imagine how important the end results of this build will be for me now, and into the future.
