update on oct 19 2019,
the router died :(. Not booting. Gave it service center. Its more than a week now and the guys says there is no stock as its a old model. Never expected from asus brand. Dont know when they will gv replacement.
update march 17 2019,
i have added 240GD SSD to the usb hub which also has 2TB hdd for local video streaming. I added mi ip camera inhouse, which sd64GB card, this copies to 240G ssd over NAS. So all in all local nas works fine with both ip camera + local video streaming. AM on the latest firmware avaible on ausu site.
A good solid router which fits my requirement :)
Update nov17-2018
I tried the USB3 with my 2TB segate 2.5" drive, the media server on this router works fine. I watched madmax furyroad 4K hevc over 2.4G wifi connected to my LG OLED 55" tv, wrked fine w/o any hickups. I attached a usb3.0 hub to usb3 port and connected my 2TB disk + a pendrive, both were shared for media and didnot have any issue to access the files.
On 4G dongle support is very bad, as i dont see common 4G dongles in India are supported.
I was looking for a router with dual band, good wifi range, 3g/4g dongle support, and a media server via usb. This product fit it my requirement and the price was 6k at the time of writing.
wifi range is good compared to my old tp link all-in-1 modem/router/wifi/3g/4g router. I have 2 floor each 1000sqft and i get wifi in all corners(-70/80dbm) of the house. However for my old tplink router, i hd wavlink repeater connected via rj45 cable. Am still using repeater setup with asus too.
3g/4g: i hd 4 diff modem (huawei e392, huawei umg1831, huawei e3372, dlink-910) of all, dlink d910 wrked perfectly, this a 3g/4g modem + wifi router. wan to usb failover wrks fine and vi-se-vera too. Support for usb dongle is very poor :(
media sever via usb: this i have not yet tested, will update after my experiments. AM planning to connect wavlink usb3 hdd dock model WL-ST336A.
Overall am happy with router.
