About the Author

Jacob Bronowski was famous for his 1973 BBC Documentary series, The Ascent of Man, which was a series of 13 episodes that followed Darwin's Descent of Man. He was a Polish-British mathematician, historian of science, poet and inventor who was also professionally associated with Cambridge University. He was involved with World War 2 and the inspirations that led to his book were derived from his examinations of the consequences caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
