i purchased this more recently as a farewell gist for a friend who loves pets and reads as much as I do. She loved the book too.
In short, this is the story of a man, his wife, daughter and his struggles through life and career. The twist is that the narrator is his dog Enzo. The POV of a dog is not novel I'm sure as there are many books and movies taking this stand. But the story is both funny and heart-warming. If you loved the movie "Marley and Me", you'll love this book.
I also felt there was a bit too much of the world verses Denny (the main character). At times you may wonder how many evil people are conspiring against him, but life can feel that way. Maybe Enzo could have shared more wisdom with Denny of how to understand people expressing fear.
I did love the cars and racing elements. I also thought of my best friend often, as many dog lovers will when reading this enjoyable book.
