Decent quality & very thin. Not much protection.

One year ago, I bought a wood veneer skin by a company called CASENCOVER for the back of my iPhone 5S. I loved it because it was made from real wood, looked beautiful with the depth of actual wood grain and was just thick enough to protect the camera lens from getting scratched when set down upon a flat surface. Being made from real wood, it did eventually splinter, but that's another story.

I had hoped this would be a similar product (because CASENCOVER hasn't made one for the iPhone 6) but it's not. This is a vinyl style skin with a fake (but decently attractive) wood pattern and a light texture to imitate grain. I'll admit that it looks alright, so it doesn't look cheap or tacky. But The vinyl is so thin that it won't keep the camera lens off a flat surface at all—maybe that's what you're looking for. My only other remark would be that it feels like it is cut out just a hairline too big for the back of the iPhone 6; it curves ever so slightly around the edges and I'm concerned that will make it easy for it to peel up with use in the future, unlike my old real wood veneer that was totally flat against the back. Because of how thin this skin is, I ended up putting my iPhone back into a clear case with the skin still on, so now I guess you can at least see the wood pattern through the clear case and get real protection at the same time.

This product gets three stars because it's good for what it is, it's just not what I expected and I don't feel like it provides sufficient protection for the price. If you want absolutely no protection for the phone beyond maybe scuffing the metal on the back, and like the appearance of wood, this will do the job. I got the ebony color and it looks nice and dark, for reference. Don't know if all the colors are as nice.
