I don't have any negative feedback. I highly recommend, and strongly encourage, that you STOP searching countless hours for thin case and buy this one. It's simple, pick a color, order it, and it arrives when promised. One last thing, when you send them emails, they respond quickly!
Top marks for Caudable thin cases!!
As a preface, I generally do not like cases on my iPhones - so much effort went into making the phone aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to hold that I find “all-over” cases destroy both the appearance and ‘feel” of the phone. (Otterbox Defender cases just offend me to no end.) Of course, drops and wear-and-tear will destroy the actual phone itself and I like to keep the phone’s appearance up for resale value, so I still resort to some minimal protection, usually in the nature of a “bumper” case or skins such as Ghost Armor. For my iPhone 5s, I went with just the Ghost Armor skins. While Ghost Armor is good, it does not protect the chamfered (bevels) edges of the phone - when I started noticing some wear-and-tear on those edges (and the local Ghost Armor kiosk closed without any notice whatsoever), I decided to try to Caudabe Veil as it was touted on various forums as the thinnest case around.
The Caudabe is a very thin but fairly rigid material and I do not think it will protect the phone against “drop damage” other than scratches - but as my primary priority was scratch-protection (haven’t seriously dropped my phone yet - knock wood), the Caudabe seemed like a good option. What it does do is cling very tightly to the phone - including the chamfered edges - with no give, flexing or gaps and without adding any discernible thickness to the phone. In fact, it seems to be so tightly engineered to the size specifications of the phone that (at least in my case), it did not want to go on the phone while I had a skin on the phone, as the skin added too much bulk to the phone. So off came the skins and on went the Veil.
The first one I received seemed to have a bit of a fit “issue” - it fit the upper portion of the phone (near the power button) just fine, but seemed to be just a tiny bit too tight at the other end (where the lightning port is) - the phone went in fine, but the lower corners did not lay flat on the phone, so the case exhibited a slight puckering or bowing at that end. I contacted Caudabe support directly - they replied promptly (within few hours), requested some additional information and, by the end of the same business day, told me they were sending me a new case. The new case arrived a few days later. It too seemed to exhibit the same issue at first, but I noted that the fit and corners “settled into place” after I left it on the phone for a day or so. HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART: I suspect now that the original case I received would’ve similarly “settled into place” had I left it on - so my suggestion is, if you experience the same problem, leave the case on and wait a day or two. It may resolve itself as the case stays on the phone. If it doesn’t, Caudabe support seems to be very responsive to issues.
Being used to only using a skin, it felt “weird” to use the Veil for the first few hours I had it on - the phone seemed to feel “thicker” to me with the case than with just the skins, but I chalk this up to a psychological reaction, as the case material seems to be as thin or thinner than the Ghost Armor Skin - and after a day or so I had forgotten the case was even on the phone. Now the case feels non-existent, and I could not be more pleased. The phone feels no thicker, but the edges that had been exposed when using the skin are now protected. The “lip” that covers the chamfered edges follows the contours of the metal edge of the phone exactly, meaning that, which you lay the phone pace down, it will resting on the glass, not on a “raised lip” of the case - which is exactly what I wanted. (A “raised lip” would’ve meant that the case was thicker than the phone itself, like a bumper case - which is what I was trying to avoid.)
I will say - being a cheap bastard - that when I opened the box, my first thought upon seeing the case was “really? $15 for this simple piece of plastic that probably cost a tiny fraction of that to manufacture?” However, I now see that the simplicity of the product itself belies the effort that went into the design and engineering of the item and the strict tolerances to which it seems to be manufactured. It literally hugs the phone, chamfered edges and all, right up to the edges of the screen glass. It seems to fit tightly enough that it is unlikely that dust will get inside the case (which has caused “hidden” scratching of my iPhones with other cases I have used, such as a bumper case.)
So the Caudabe Veil as worth every penny to me, especially when backed by the excellent customer service exhibited by the company. I hope they are able to quickly produce a similar case for the iPhone 6 when it arrives and they have had time to ascertain measurements precise enough to offer as good a fit as that shown by the 5s version I purchased. If so, it will be my first choice for a case for that phone.
On the front of the phone you cannot feel the edge = A+
On the top of the edge, you dont have any annoying covers that make you 'work' to hit the button. It is a transparent button that allows you to use the top and side buttons as if there is no case = A+
I have tried both Wisp Black and Frost with a black iphone 5. I am attaching pictures, as I wanted to see what the frost would look like with the black phone and I love it.
