Today’s readers of science fiction and fantasy have an appetite for stories that address a wide variety of voices, perspectives, and styles. There is an openness to experiment and pushing boundaries, combined with the classic desire to read about spaceships and dragons, future technology and ancient magic, and the places where they intersect. Contemporary science fiction and fantasy looks to accomplish the same goal as ever—to illuminate what it means to be human. With a diverse selection of stories chosen by series editor John Joseph Adams and Diana Gabaldon, The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2020 explores the ever-expanding and changing world of SFF today.

Save your money and avoid this one.

The next story was started off well but went on and on and was so boring. Nothing is explained, there are no rules or meaning to the world.
Next story was disgusting. It was appalling and had nothing to do with science fiction.
33 wicked daughters was strange. Almost enjoyable, but it was far too predictable and read like a children's book.
Bullet point by Elizabeth Bear deserves a special mention as it may be the worst thing I have ever read. The author uses (you guessed it!) bullet points like you did in a 6th grade computer class. The main character complains about everything even though they are the only person left alive. That makes no sense. This is not a story, it is a rant in a blog. A very poorly written blog. Blogs and bullet points were lame in 1990. This is the best in 2020? No, no it is not.
Next story is thankfully short, maybe four pages without a plot or anything to do with science fiction.
Next story is somewhat interesting, archaeology with a science fiction bend, but it is long. And I there I am half way through and other than the first story, I cannot believe a real editor would give these stories a second glance.
Don't waste time or money on this.
You're welcome!

Sadly if I could return it I would as it will not be read again....

In all, a waste of money and time.
