i did not want to invest a ton on money on co2 system so i decided to go with API. when i brought it, seachem Excel was not available.
This works great as good as seachem Flourish Excel, within a week algae started to die down and the plant started getting lush. algae did a number of some of my plants but after using this for 1 month and i am happy with the results. the plants are lush and the algae issue is gone.
i just wish they would make a larger bottle for cheap, the chemical used is not expensive but they market it as some secret formula and sell it expensive. the base indigent is derivative of glutaraldehyde and you can find many hospitals use it to sterilize medical equipment.

Plants in an aquarium are like a three legged stool, CO2, ferts, light. You need all three or fall over. I had plenty of light and ferts and little growth until dosing with this product. Seems to have slowed the algae also.
Dosages are at best an estimate and your needs will vary in direct relation to how many plants you have. Start low and increase slightly if you see no results. I'm currently over dosing according to the instructions but my tank is a forest. Dose in the morning when the lights come on imo.
Minus one star for daily dosing and poor measuring cap.
I use this almost strictly as an algae preventative and it works amazingly!! I dose every morning when I first turn on the lights for the day. I have been told that the beginning of the "photo" (light) period is the best time to use CO2 for your plants and to keep your fish safe. The measuring cap is really made for tanks at least 10 gallon and above, so I poured some of my CO2 booster into a clean glass dropper bottle and made a label for how to measure it in drops instead of ML for 1 gallon snail tank and my 5 gallon pea puffer tank.
Meh - I haven't really seen significant gains, so this product looses one star, however I am pretty sure that it has help to halt some plant death, so that is a plus.
They're fine with it. My fish and snails have not reacted adversely to this at all (even when I added a few extra drops to see if there was a change in their behavior).
