Serious flaw with holder mechanism & button pressing problem with RN3
on 16 November 2016
Irusu people were very helpful in replying customer queries. They provided me very to-the-point reply to every technical point I raised, not like most 'Indian' companies who just re-brand chinese products and sell like grocery items. So I was very impressed and convinced that they actually do the designing. They said Redmi Note 3 buttons works without problem asked about some details Shipping, packaging to delivery - everything was too good!
The product looks gorgeous, really sturdy, very well made. Straps, cushions etc. are high quality and you can use it for hours without hurting your nose though the item is not light at all.
Lens clarity is good, but I used other brands and won't say they were any bad in comparison. But yes, Irusu is very well aligned so no distortion, and you can enjoy VR without dizziness or headache. I watched 3D movie (Chosen 140 degree, Sticky view, No Drift options under AAA VR Player app) also and it was like a gigantic screen and you are the only audience!
The Clicker comes handy, I didn't stick it as I was not sure if I shall return the set. I simply move it near the set and it triggers the click (by sudden change in magnetic field) :-p
I think price is exorbitant! You can a get a branded prism binocular at this price. But it has some inexpensive lenses (available at Amazon itself for less than 100/-) and some plastic alignment mechanism.
The game controller is hardly useful, and Irusu should mention clearly that there was another manual for that (mentioned a 1 manual only) And you shall have to purchase a pair of AAA batteries as well. So after struggling how to use it, finally found some Chinese Youtube videos explaining its use. But its still very difficult & confusing to use it as there are 'modes' that you shall have to switch to every now and then, no dedicated fixed layout. How to use it when you are even not looking at it? It may be somewhat useful for normal use but NOT FOR VR.
Now coming to the serious problem. Probably for phones upto 5" its not a problem, but mine was 5.5" (Redmi Note 3).
1) The spring in the phone holder mechanism is so strong, and the plastics were so weak that if you pull it the flaps at one side, only it will get extended, not the other side flap! Scary. I thought I will break it anytime. You can also see it in an Youtube demo by Abhishek Jain at 2:45 (URL [...]. Here is s snapshot of it.
2) With back cover, the problem gets worse! And while taking it out, the cuts on the cover for volume buttons etc. gets tangled by the flaps. So I had to remove back cover every time - which is risky, annoying & not practical.
3) They said over phone that it was tested for Redmi Note 3. But I found most of the times the volume buttons getting depressed by these flaps!
4) More scary news: Twice the holder mechanism got stuck at the maximum open position (this happened while taking the phone out). I thought I had lost it! But finally managed to release it. I don't believe it will last long.
And if that is the story for a 5/5", how to fit a 6" one into it?
I am returning it, even if they don't refund it also.
