Superb protection. I have dropped by phone from 4 ft and 6ft hight couple of time.. once phone slipped while juggling with carry bags and banged on hard concrete from hight of 5 ft but nothing happened. Even there were no scratches on UAG case which was surprising.

Feels sturdy and strong. Just makes this already big phone really bulky and difficult to slide into/out of pocket. havnt dropped the phone yet since i started using the armour gear, so can't comment on safety aspect. The Screen Guard that comes with it though seems really flimsy. Cheers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Protection without sacrificing size (with some caveats) 3 December 2014
By Godzillinois - Published on Amazon.com

My first experience with Urban Armor Gear cases was when I bought one for my Surface Pro (I wrote a review for that case on Amazon too if you want to read it.) Considering how big and heavy the Surface Pro already was meant that I didn’t mind the extra bulk added by the case as long as I had it protected. What surprised me was how light it was despite its size, and the grip provided by the frogskin backing. It was these qualities that led me back to UAG as my first choice for a case for my new phone.

Despite a few caveats, the Ice/Clear case for my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is everything I expected from a UAG product. This series of cases provides a mid-point between slim-form smartphone cases, and super-protective mutli-layered cases. Basically if you’re looking for a more substantial-feeling case for your Note, but don’t want the extra bulk of an Otterbox, then this is the case for you. It feels great in your hand without being too thick and the tactile response from the volume rocker and power button coverings are some of the best I’ve experienced in a Note 4 case. The extra thickness added in the corners and overall industrial-look inspires great confidence in its protective qualities, and although the military grading can be ambiguous it is still the only line of cases I’ve found that even has the rating. Plus it achieves all this while still being amazingly light; I barely noticed a weight difference with the case on.

Now, on to those caveats I mentioned earlier. The material the case is made of is harder (but probably more protective) than TPU or other plastics, but that means it’s also stiffer than it as well. This makes it incredibly hard to put on, but even harder to take off. This may not bother most people, but for those that plan on buying an extra battery to swap out frequently (one of the great things possible with the Note 4) then this might not be the case for you. I actually stretched and pulled on my case for a while to help loosen it up, but it was still difficult to take off even after the stretching. Also, the aforementioned frogskin layer is missing from these cases, and therefore there is a lot less grip to the case. I still would not call this a ‘slippery’ case, but it’s still surprising after coming from my Surface Pro case. If that bothers you, and you don’t mind a bigger case in exchange for more grip and protection, UAG also offers a line of folio cases that comes with a screen cover that doubles as a card holder. These cases are completely wrapped in the frogskin covering, but are incredibly thick-possibly on par or greater than the size of the Otterbox Defender series.

I would still recommend this case to anyone looking for protection in a slimmer form factor, the fusing of its harder outer shell and softer core enables it to be thinner than comparable dual-layered cases. In fact, it is still about $10-$15 cheaper than its closest Otterbox competitor (the Commuter series.) I was going to give this case a hard 3 star rating, but the cool clear look of it made me bump it up to a soft 4. Because it is clear you can use it without the battery cover on so that you can see the ‘insides’ of the Note 4, which gives it even more of an industrial look to it. So far I haven’t seen any negative impact with having the case on without the battery cover, and this essentially gives you 2 options for aesthetics when it comes to this case. We’ll see if the lack of grip and difficulty to take off brings my rating back down to a 3 after extended use, and although I haven’t tried the other colors I imagine I would rate those 3 stars (especially considering that this color is currently on the cheaper end of the price range for these cases.) These cases also comes with a screen protector, which I haven’t used because I ordered a tempered glass one instead.

On a side note, I ordered this case directly from UAG and it came in a lot sooner than I expected, which is surprising considering the posts on their site from customers complaining about not getting their cases fast enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Verizon, Sprint, AT&T or anything else, buy with confidence. 1 November 2014
By P. Ritzen - Published on Amazon.com
First of all, I purchased this product directly from Urban Armor Gear's website, seeing as Amazon still hasn't stocked them yet. I have also included a handful of pictures to make sure potential buyers get the information i had been looking for, myself.

I first purchased an Urban Armor Gear case for my Samsung Galaxy S3, about 2 years ago. Despite the fact that i am extremely careful with my electronics, accidents do happen. I have dropped that phone several times, on different surfaces and from different heights. It has landed on its side, its back, its face and even on its corners. There were times when i was convinced, that as soon as i picked it up and flipped it over, i would see a cracked screen. This never happened. The Urban Armor Gear case has kept that old S3 safe and free of damage for all this time. This brings me to writing this "review" on the same case, but for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Again, i purchased this case directly from Urban Armor Gear's website, so this is a genuine product.

I have had this case on my Note 4 for a few hours now, and i can honestly say that it's made to exactly the same high standard of protective quality we have come to expect from Urban Armor Gear. The phone jumped from feeling delicate and easily damaged to rugged, sturdy and very well protected. It's much more comfortable to hold as well, and makes the Note 4 easier to use with just one hand. As for the camera's lens, it will never touch the surface of anything, if the phone is laid flat on it's back. The heart rate sensor is fully functional, and easily used when holding the phone with just one hand. All of the cutouts are meticulously placed and line up exactly the way they should, which brings me to this point...

To compensate for the Note 4's varying microphone locations per carrier, Urban Armor Gear simply made the cutout a bit "longer" on that side. The Note 4 in my pictures is from AT&T, but you can clearly see the extra space for the other models. Thus, anyone with a Note 4 can buy this case with confidence, for it will not block your microphone. :)

Last but not least, I am a firm believer in "spreading the word" when it comes to genuine, authentic products and the obscene amount of fakes floating around online. Urban Armor Gear's website clearly states that they ONLY endorse their products when they're purchased from their own website or directly from Amazon, which will always show as "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com".

Even if the case costs a little more from either one of these two sources, you can be sure that it's the real deal, and will protect your phone exactly the way Urban Armor Gear wants it to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good protection without added bulk 6 January 2015

The Urban Armor Gear case for the Galaxy Note 4 is a decent, lightweight protective case for the phone. It's noticeably thinner and lighter than the Otterbox Defender, but it also offers a bit less protection in that it's missing the shock-absorbing soft inner silicone layer and the added screen protector. That may or may not make a difference, as the manufacturer claims to meet the military drop-test standards (MIL STD 810G 516.6). Quoting from their website:

"To achieve this certification, a device must be dropped from a height of 48 inches, on each face, corner, and back. The device is dropped a total of 26 times and must function properly after the test, while not sustaining any damage to the touch screen."

For obvious reasons, I'm not prepared to duplicate this test with my phone or do head-to-head testing with the other protective cases. I would agree with another reviewer who stated that this is a mid-range protective case: not as many layers as, say, the Otterbox but much more protective than a cheap, slim, decorative case.

The phone snapped right into the case without any issue. The buttons work just fine, the ports line up very well, and there is enough of a lip around the edge that you can turn your phone over and the screen won't touch the surface. One thing I really liked is that all of the buttons remain readily accessible, as does the fingerprint sensor, which is often blocked by the more heavyweight cases. I also like that the phone remains relatively slim. It's ironic that Samsung makes some of the slimmest phones on the market and we bulk them up with these protective cases that are double or triple the depth.

The case doesn't have a built-in screen protector but it does come with a separate clear self-adhering screen protector that you apply yourself. It's fairly typical of the genre and I found it no more difficult (and no easier) than any other to apply. You remove the bottom layer, carefully position the screen protector, then squeegee out the air bubbles, then carefully remove the top layer. I was still left with a couple of bubbles, as removing the top layer caused the screen protector to lift up in places but, again, that's typical.

I found that the UAG-covered phone slipped into and out of my pocket easier than some other cases I've tried, likely because of the thinness. I haven't (yet) dropped the phone from a height of 48 inches but the case has definitely handled being banged around a bit without incident. It's a good-looking case with decent protection and a relatively slim profile. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Note that I have a wireless charging receiver installed in my Galaxy Note 4 and I was able to make that work through this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drop it like it's hot 30 July 2016

I am clumsy and have dropped my phone several times, so much that I broke my phone and had to use my insurance. After paying the deductible and getting a new phone, I promised myself I would be more careful and not drop my phone. However, just in case, I now got a more heavy duty case. Well, my promise didn't last and I have dropped my phone. Once, twice, three times.... and the phone has had not even a blemish with this case. Besides the obvious protection for the phone, this case also looks pretty sweet. Like R2D2 and BB-8 had a baby. Phone still is pretty slim and fits in my pocket nicely (as could be considering the phone size).

I recommend this product for all your "oopsies".

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent grip, feel, look and without being overly bulky 26 December 2014

UPDATE 4/2016

I've dropped my phone now more times than I can count. This thing is stupid proof. My phone is old and starting to slow down and get bogged like normal, but this thing doesn't let it break. We've purchased a second one for my wife, since she had a cheaper case, dropped it and broke the tempered glass screen cover. Yes, it'a bit big, but it's about as perfect a case as I've ever owned. WIll be buying these from now on.

UPDATE 2/11/15: I've been using it for a couple of months now and have dropped my phone 3 times onto hard surfaces. No damage at all. The case itself is proving really useful for its grip, not only is it tougher to drop (I've not dropped it while holding it) but it also sits up against things without slipping down, making it a decent case for creating viewing angles.

I really can't find anything wrong with this product. Fits incredibly snugly without having to fight to get it on. The little rubber "feet" keep it elevated and the screen, with a glass Zagg protector, does not touch the table when placed face down. Also not as bulky as I feared. I love the look and the grips are sturdy so I don't feel like I'm going to drop it when using it one handed. I would highly recommend this. I've used a few cases with phones over the years and this is by far my favorite.

I was worried I wouldn't be able to use the heart monitor (I use this regularly), but the case is thin enough that it does not interfere greatly, though you will have a bit more trouble positioning your finger over the sensor. I'm a 6'1" male with average hand size and find no real issue with it.
