4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Clip case and the price is right 29 October 2014

This fits the Nokia Lumia 521 Phone really well. It holds the phone securely, and is easy to carry clipped on your belt or pocket. There are 2 pieces; the phone cover and the holster. The phone will fit either way face in for carrying around or face out for use while it's in the holster. There are tabs on either side of the holster that hold the phone in the case. These holds the phone securely so it will not slide out without pulling the phone. The tab on the right side does block the on/off button of the Lumia 521 phone. You have to slide the phone up a 1/2 inch in the holster to access the on button. I don't see this as a problem because it also prevents the button from being unintentionally pressed will carrying it inserted in the holster. The power connector of the Nokia Lumia 521 is located on the bottom of the phone and is blocked with the phone upright in the holster. It protects the plug when carrying. You just have to flip the phone in the holster for charging. The case is semi rigid plastic which has a good feel to it and doesn't add extra size and bulk to the phone. The clip has a spring and can be locked out using a mettle brace that folds out so it can be used as a pedestal to set the phone upright or on the side while on a desk or countertop. The case has a cutout for the camera lens. You still have to remove the phone from the holster to use the camera. The case is the type I like and the price is right too.

Some other cases I tried had integrated buttons on the case which covered the actual phone buttons, so you have to push the buttons through the case making it very difficult to press the buttons. This case has cutouts on the right side for the phones buttons. This allows direct access to the buttons and allow for easy phone operation. Another reason I like this phone case.

STRENGTHS:
Comprised of 2 separate parts:
1. The well-designed, well-built protective "skin" case fits the Nokia Lumia 521 snugly like a well-designed glove.
-- a big PLUS: all the phone ports (camera, speaker, headphone jack, micro-USB port) and phone switches (volume, on/off, camera) are completely accessible.
2. The holster case which (a) has a felt-lining on its inside surface to protect the phone's glass screen and (b) has the belt clip on its back surface and (c) includes the 3-fingered phone holders (2 "fingers" CENTERED on the long sides plus 1 "finger" CENTERED on the short BOTTOM side).
3. The phone, while in the protective "skin" case, can be EASILY inserted into and taken out of the holster case with the phone's glass screen either facing inward onto the protective felt-lining or facing outward for GPS use, etc.

WEAKNESSES
1. The 2 "fingers" CENTERED on the long sides of the holster case BLOCK the phone's on/off switch.
-- If these 2 "fingers" were to be relocated DOWNWARD 1cm closer to the BOTTOM of the holster, then NONE of the switches on the phone's long side would be blocked.
2. The 1 "finger" CENTERED on the short BOTTOM side of the holster case BLOCKS the micro-USB port on the bottom of the phone.
-- If this "finger" were to be relocated OFF-CENTER (LEFT or RIGHT) approximately 18mm closer to the edge of the holster, then the micro-USB port on the bottom of the phone would NOT be blocked.

FLAWS
I received my 1st holster case on 2014-4-7 and the belt clip just snapped off all by itself on 2014-7-24 (3 months) while I was just sitting in my car (the holster case fell into my lap).
-- Had the belt clip broken while I was walking, the phone might have cracked on the sidewalk.
-- Not very reassuring that the belt clip is apparently the WEAKEST link on this otherwise well-designed holster case.
-- The belt clip apparently is held in place by 2 seemingly CRUMMY, apparently easily-SHEARED plastic male prongs/tabs (which protrude from the back of the holster case that has the 3-fingered phone holders and which click into the 2 mating female slots on the back of the belt clip).
-- If the 2 seemingly CRUMMY, apparently easily-SHEARED plastic male prongs/tabs were to be replaced by a lightweight metal-bracket assembly, this holster case might become indestructible and a BEST SELLER!

MY RATING
Unfortunately, I can't rate this holster case higher than 3 stars because of the WEAKNESSES and FLAWS cited above.
HOWEVER, if the design alterations proposed above were made, then the renovated holster case would most probably rate 5 stars and be nearly indestructible.

yesterday i had an accident. Well let me rephrase that in saying the holster accidentally fell from about three feet;off of the dinner table, and next thing i heard was a crunch, splat and a roll as the holsters backing broke in three....yes bummer. Fortunately, the cellphone is saved, however the $9 plus that i spent on this generic model went to waste. I had the holster for approximately a month and was happy until today. Boy they sure don't make things the way they used too. Maybe i'll have to spend an extra$10 and buy a more name brand item. Very disappointed that the product could not stand the test of the dinner table fumble.

I like this case very much, the case fits snug. Your phone is completely safe when completely covered. Gave 4 stars because like with most cases you have to turn the phone around in the case to use, relieving the phone of it' safety. Plus I'm a harsh critic. This case came very fast, ordered it Thursday and got it Saturday. Oh another plus is the kickstand.

I bought my 11 year old the Nokia Lumia 521 for Xmas. This is his first phone, Trying to see if hes responsible enough to handle a cellphone and treat it with care. Its a wonderful case. It covers every edge and every button on the phone except the screen. Once on the holster it covers the phone completely from "accidental" falls and scratches. It also has some type of soft cloth inside the holster that cleans the screen and protects it from the holster from scratching.
