Top Customer Reviews
Kaya Malhotra is a beautiful and successful woman whom any man would love to be with. Classy mannerism and cheerful nature is excelling her, taking her to places. Her husband who works with her in the same office, is beyond supportive and caring. Everyone in the office, is either cherishing their perfect relationship or setting them as an ideal couple.
Except it's not!
What nobody knows is what happens once they are not in front of anyone. Pretending.
Treacherous Desires accounts a tale of a woman who is unsatisfied with her husband and living a life that is equivalent to a huge burden to her. The thing is, she can't get over it and be with one man at a time. She has her limitations and boundaries and confusions.
There were moments in which the protagonist's lack of wisdom made me laugh, I must say that the way the author has humorously portrayed the suffering of Kaya is enjoyable but other times I was a bit mad seeing the indecisive side of her.
I thought that the characters had too strong dialogues but their emotions were as much fragile. Some more background to each character's point of view would have provided a thick pillar to the story.
It was facile to get involved with the protagonist's complex and miserable life-style but after a point, I wanted her to develop more. A little better construction can uplift this theme a lot.
I could imagine of a sequel to it but with mature, uncomplicated but diverse and justified emotions from each character's parts in which you can argue and yet get confused about the righteousness of everyone.
Those who'd like to read something light and entertaining, can have this one.
Firstly, my usual train of thought in Kaya's case would be divorce your sorry husband and go find the stranger and have fun. But turns out there is a back story because of which that cannot happen.
Secondly, Shaun's character came off as too strong in the beginning and I disliked that because dominant rich playboys who have their eyes set on one woman they cannot have is a cliche. But after I kept reading for a while, my liking for Shaun grew just as my hatred for Daksh grew as well. And there stuck in the middle was Kaya.
It was an entertaining read and I have to say I kept reading till it had ended and I was satisfied with it. I did not expect something mind-twisting and unique from the beginning. So when I got a cute, kinda sensual, kinda emotional romance story that kept me engrossed for a while, I was happy.
The writing was good because it often happens that romance stories tend to get too cheesy or when it comes to details, it becomes vulgar. I am glad that that did not happen with this book. It kept a steady pace as well.
In the end, there were just few points that irked me and I cannot discuss that because spoiler alert.
But I would suggest this book to romance readers.
well while going through the book its very hard to control the hormones as this book has all those situations which are enough to excite you to the level that all you had in ur mind for your love.
love, romance, sex, understanding your love.. responsibilities towards your love.
The Author had beautifully mentioned the tantrunas that all the working guys go through in their offices. Collegues talking behind your back.. backwithching and all.. and also the responsibilities of a best friend.
Well the ending is " Happy Ending"
A bit different from my taste.
The protagonist, Kaya is upset with her husband because he isn't giving her enough time. Even after a long period of marriage, she's deciding whether she loves him or not. She is losing her confidence and she doesn't have the choice to get out of it.
But when the stunning and affluent Shaun takes over her world and shows what she deserves, things start to go way overboard for her.
What she'll be doing now in such dilemma as this, is for you to watch.
A kind of forbidden romance kindles in the deepest recesses of the heart.
In the first few chapters, I laughed with my heart out at the erratic thoughts of the protagonist. The echoes of her morals kept coming back to her here and there. The thoughts of living a sorrowful life with her current husband haunted her to the core.
In between the confusion whether to be with her husband or going after a stranger, more important than whom she chooses is how she chooses what to do. Her turmoils were the real thrill.
The great part about books is that they can be anything. They can go anywhere - real, unreal, tragic. Anything. But weak characters can take the ship down.
There is potential in the story and if you are looking for noir romance books, you might adhere to it. The flipping of loyalties could be visualized like tides.
The narrator's witty remarks will make you chuckle and yet there will come a point where Kaya's inconclusive nature might displease you. You just want to tell her to get a divorce.
I would praise the author for the proper editing.Read more ›
