The screen protector top snaps into the base. The snaps that fasten the top to the base are very, very tight, and difficult to get out without breaking a thumbnail or using a small pry tool.
The screen protector does not have a good feel like the glass screen protectors do.
The QR code link for installation instructions didn't work--it just took me to the Trident cases site, and the "select your model" menu didn't work, not on the phone browser, and not on my Chrome browser on Windows. I eventually found an installation instructions video for the Galaxy S6 version of the case on TridentCase site. It looks like the case goes on and comes off the S6 much more easily, based on the video.
I cannot recommend this case. Better to have a case without a screen protector and use a good glass screen protector.
The only reason to get this case is if you will be using your phone in harsh outdoor environments a lot; in that setting, the integrated screen protector would be somewhat water resistant, compared to other cases. I bought it for the color, to help me see my phone when I set it down. I regret this purchase.
I was initially put off a bit by the reviews for the Note 4 version so I tried an OtterBox Defender. Found that the Otterbox screen protector stood away a bit from the Note 4 screen and the case made the phone too bulky so I returned it in favor of the Trident Cyclops. The Trident case is much lighter than the OtterBox and I like how the screen protector sits on the Note 4 screen a lot better. I am expecting the same level of protection from the Note 4 case as I received from the S4 Active case. Yes, it is a bit more difficult to remove the S Pen from the Cyclops case but, if I can do it using my fingernail, anyone can.
Also - the Trident case is much cheaper.
