5.0 out of 5 stars Truely amazing little speakers! 4 August 2012
By LJFury - Published on Amazon.com

I ordered these little speakers yesterday and got them today when I asked for two day shipping! I was ecstatic to say the least. I had been planning to buy these for months from the actual razerstore website but when I had tried the site was having an error so I came here and I'm so pleased that I did. The product is amazing. I'm a gamer, maybe not a hardcore shoot'em up gamer but I'm still a gamer and I've been slowly buying razer for looks and function. I love the way these speakers look and they function just fine now that I've read through some of the other reviews. I popped open the packaging and skim read the little foldout book they give you on how to hook up and what the colored lights are at the bottom of the speakers [which I didn't know where there until I bought them]. I hooked up the mini USB's to both speakers and then hooked up the jack and USB to my keyboard's little opens. I put on some music with a little base and let them loose only to be severely disappointed at first.

One speaker would work wonderfully and the other one would produce this shrill shriek of a noise that killed my ears. Unplugging it from the mini USB and just using the one speaker would kill the noise but the sound was severely reduced. I tried switching the speakers, changing the location, etc... and nothing seemed to fix it. So I went off in search of other people with my problem and wound up here. I read through more and more of the reviews and found similar problems. Then, thankfully I found a response from a Chris in California. Reading the response completely fixed everything! I had been prepared to start packing up the speakers to send them back for another pair to see if they'd be better but the problem I was having was more user error than product error. I was unaware that the speakers aren't meant to be hooked up directly to your computer at all times. If you're experiencing that annoying shrill piercing noise, just unplug the main USB that you use when you're charging. Once you do that both speakers work wonderfully, no annoying noise. I made the mistake of thinking that the speakers would need to be charged when I got them and I made the mistake of looking at them like normal everyday computer speakers. Shame on me! These things are amazing and I'm so happy that I actually read these reviews before I got too angry. Now... just to test them in game and see how awesome they are.

But to everyone out there, read and read some more before you get too upset at equipment. I can't stress that enough, especially when other consumers have left such useful information behind for us!
5.0 out of 5 stars Love! 8 March 2017

I absolutely love these speakers!! My son bought these several years back for our desktop computer for his "gaming". These are just the best sounding and functional speakers I have ever used. Instead of having to mute the computer, you can just close the speaker by pushing it down. So much easier than finding a knob to turn it off or using the mouse to mute it. It's instant. When a video starts playing automatically and you don't want to hear it? Just push down the speaker(s). I recently ordered another set for a group that I sing with. We sometimes use a split-track with voices on one side and instrumentation on the other. To get it to play split, we would have go through a cd player and receiver. Now, i can just copy my split track to my Iphone and play it through these speakers. When I want to take off the voices, I just close one of the speakers. Works great! It's even loud enough to use for a small venue performance. Like I said earlier, my son bought the first set several years ago. They sound as good now as they did then.

4.0 out of 5 stars which can't be done super fast if you are used to a single push ... 23 March 2015

You are paying for the ability to say you have neat, wide-area-of-effect, low-output, speakers. If this is your thing than I would definitely buy them. Which is why I did because I use a lot of low audio, and I have an oddly shaped office. I can use them while gaming on my desk, or even when using my exercise bike and watching my connected LCD TV.

As far as quality is concerned it is not worth anywhere near the price; having about the same sound quality as a $20 Logitech set. Also these are LAPTOP speakers, meaning LAPTOP quality sounds, i.e. no base, very "tinny".

Also you have to turn off BOTH speakers, which can't be done super fast if you are used to a single push/twist button to silence your computer.

The novelty of the push down/up speaker is what you are paying for.

Overall these are very neat. Their push-to-open operation works very smoothly. I like how they use USB's for all the connections minus the audio (which is also good, meaning they are USB powered), though the light up function would be nicer if they didn't still light up when turned off, but overall they do look very neat.

As far as using these for a mobile laptop, I have no idea why you would ever buy speakers for your laptop that have a surround, broad-area, speaker. I see it annoying anyone around you very quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish, loud little speakers 7 May 2011
By kevinli3194 - Published on Amazon.com

These speakers are amazing. They don't look like they would create enough sound like any 2.1 speaker system, but they do.
I use a Sony VAIO CW computer and whenever I watch youtube videos, I turn up my sound to max and the youtube video sound to max. Whenever I hooked up these speakers, I had to turn down my volume to half and the youtube volume to around 1/3 of its bar. They are LOUD.

Volume: 10/10.

The aesthetics.. they look really nice. The material is really high quality, and whenever you pick them up, you can feel the slight heaviness of them. The top of the speakers open up and the razer logo is sketched on a brushed chrome aluminum.

Appearance: 10/10.

The light on the bottom of the speakers are also very nice. Although they aren't as bright as I thought, they are good indicators of when the battery is running low.

However, a few minor things I must point out. The cord that connects the speakers is extremely short. My usb ports are on the left side of my computer and my audio jack-in is on the right side, and because of the shortness of the cord, I can't charge my speakers while using them at the same time.

Another thing, the bass is not that good relative to the mids and the highs. However, it's not that big of a deal to me.
3.0 out of 5 stars A bit overpriced, not great sound, but better than laptop speakers... 22 July 2013

Okay, these are louder than your laptop speakers, however they don't sound very good. They are adequate, but overpriced considering the quality of the audio and the competition out there.

This might be specific to the set I got ---> You have to push the top down to turn them on, one of the speakers I got has a crooked lid that never really looks closed. Also, one of the speakers makes a popping noise every time you close it, it actually sounds like a pop from the speaker not from the materials rubbing or clipping.

There are blue lights that light up at the base of the speakers, but they are flashing almost all the time which I find super annoying, its like a slow strobe light going off while I'm trying to pay attention to the screen, I wish they didn't exist.

These speakers have batteries built in which is completely unnecessary as I will never use these not attached to USB for power, so I'm not sure why that is even a feature of these speakers considering they are sold to be used with a laptop... It just adds to the cost, and there are much better rechargeable wireless speaker options out there in this price range that sound better.

I have a big laptop and I find that the cables are just barely long enough to work, it would have been nice to have an extra 6 inches of cable at least.

And you cannot tell which speaker is left or right without unplugging the speakers. The L and R is only marked on the end of the cable where it plugs into the speakers, and the label is covered when they are plugged in. Not a big deal, but if you carry them around by the cable, or just toss them in your bag with the cables attached you have to unplug them to know which side they go on.

It would have been nice to have some cool looking braided or green rubber cables to go with these as the black cabling is kinda ugly.

I still use them, but I have my radar on for a different set of small speakers that sound better. Get them used or something, the MSRP price is terrible, try not to pay over 30 bucks or so for these.
