4.0 out of 5 stars Great battery life, but ok construction, excellent customer service. 6 November 2015

Bought one case some time ago, and this one was for my brother. Great battery life, and I'm sure PhoneSuit's newest cases are much lighter in weight with more charging capacity (i.e., better gravimetric energy density). This one is pretty heavy, but it's old tech now. This case would take my (at the time, 3-year-old) iPhone 4S from about 5% back up to full charge, and then have some to spare. Extremely reliable. The push button charge on/off is a nice touch; my last battery case had a slider on/off switch which promptly broke. That's why I forked over the premium price to get this one from PhoneSuit.

The micro USB charging port was too tight a fit for the cable that came with it, and I ended up breaking the port because the metal USB contact actually tore out of the plug and jammed into the port. PhoneSuit kindly replaced the device within days, which is why they get four stars. I was very careful with the plugging in the phone after that, but I swear I wasn't manhandling it with the last case. Oh well. I actually was fearful enough that I got a docking station with my Mophie case so I could avoid plugging a cord in and out of the charging port on my Mophie case (just to make it last longer...another $50 spent. :( ).

I was initially unhappy with the first case I purchased because it was a hefty $100, and broke pretty quickly. But PhoneSuit has a great support guy who responded immediately to my call, no phone robots. Thanks for that, PhoneSuit!, otherwise this might have been more like a 2 star review. I trusted them enough that I bought this one for my brother's iPhone 4S!
3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly better in some respects than the Mophie JuicePack 23 July 2014

I had a Mophie Juice Pack but have had problems with the location of the charger connection (it is on a bottom corner on the edge of the phone and comes loose easily). This has the connector on the bottom where it belongs.

This is a hard plastic case. It is very snug and apparently prone to having the top break; they include two top parts. (I broke an older Mophie and could not get a replacement top for it, thanks.)

The Mophie case has some give to it and feels like it would be better protection if dropped. I haven't had any problems with either case with the few drops they've had.

Probably the biggest issue is that it muffles the speakers more than the Mophie. Even with the volume all the way up it is hard to hear some of the ring tones. I changed my ring to one that is longer and easier to distinguish from other ambient sounds. Good enough.

It charges the phone great, which is what I bought it for. Just letting you know the drawbacks.

Although I don't use them it also came with screen protectors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the new ones are more reliable now. 28 February 2015

It lasted about 8 months before it would not charge anymore. I had it replaced and the second one started having similar but sporatic charging issues after 2 months. After that I gave up and went back to a regular phone case.

While it was working, it worked great. It would easily recharge my phone from 15% or so to a full charge.

2.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable backup but short life 26 November 2012
By Lawrence Baxter - Published on Amazon.com

This case does the job of providing a good backup charge. It is a little heavy, however, and, for the price, not as sturdy as I would have expected. A piece of plastic started to strip off the side after a couple of months.
Update: About six weeks after writing this review the charger connection started to fail and has now stopped working altogether. I have tried other cables but the problem is the poor quality connection. The case has been used normally and has had no bumps or unusual trauma. I would NOT recommend.
2.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for 3mo then suddenly died :( 26 December 2013

This battery case brand is acceptable, it is definitely cheaper than a Mophie case, and served the same purpose. Although my rating of 2 stars, it functioned phenomenally for 3mo, no glitches, even with constant disconnect and reconnect of my iPhone. It is a bit chunky and the plastic material made it slippery, but I overall loved it. After 3mo, it refused to charge, I tried it with my iPhone connected, disconnected; nada. KEEP ALL PACKAGING WITH YOU if you wish to try Photosuit for a technological issue that may be covered by its warranty, because Amazon will not help nor accept any type of return for this case; even though they sell the product.

Final verdict: get a Mophie; it definitely won't fail you after 3mo of used.
