OtterBox Commuter Series Hybrid Case for HTC One (Punked) As the protective case partner of the made for HTC devices, we worked closely with HTC to design the ultimate case for the HTC One -resulting in a lineup of cases with precise form, fit and function that complements every innovative feature of this device. The Commuter Series HTC One case is one result of this collaboration. You can thank us later. Unlike many cases out there, the Commuter Series case for the HTC One is more than a good-looking, fashionable case. The Commuter Series is slim, sleek and attractive, but it is also extremely protective. With a slick exterior made of a hard polycarbonate plastic shell that allows your HTC One to slide easily in and out of your pocket and an inner silicone layer that acts like a cushion to absorb shock and impact, the two-layer Commuter Series case for the HTC One is made for on-the-go, always-on use. -The white case looks great on the white HTC one.
-Protects your phone very well
-Does what a smart phone case needs to do.
-The construction quality (on my case at least) seems subpar of that of other otterbox cases. The seams between the rubber glove for the phone and the plastic shield in some areas have gaps.
-The screen protector I received is fit for sitting directly on top of the heaping pile of trash in my apartment's trashcan.
-As I mentioned about the screen protector: I believe it's defective. I noticed right away when I removed the plastic bag holding the screen protector, microfiber cloth, and card thingy to install the screen protector that the protector itself was bent in a corner. But that's just the beginning of my gripes about it; When I went to install it, I could never remove some of the bubbles from particular places in the screen (even with my fingernail, the bubbles never even budged.) After several attempts of using their included card to help installing the protector, I noticed that it was scratching the heck out of the protector. Not deep scratches that you can feel, but they wouldn't buff out with the microfiber cloth. And they are plain as day on the protector too. And for the finale on my rant about the screen protector - There was a little paper tab with instructions to remove it after installing the screen. I decided after a few attempts to just live with a couple minor bubbles and a corner popping up (I hoped the case would hold down the corner). But when I went to remove the tab, the paper ripped like a sticker on paper. This was going to leave even more of a noticeable smudge on the screen from the adhesive. That was the straw that broke the camels back there, I decided to just take off the screen protector and live without it on there. The case will do well enough of keeping the phone from being damaged when it gets dropped, and that's all I need. I keep my phone in a seperate pocket from my keys, so I'm not too worried about the screen getting scratched.
This is my first Commuter case and it is definitely more durable than other double layer cases I have used for my Nexus 4 phone. I decided to install the case WITHOUT the extra screen protector. I am fine without a screen protector and am happy with the installation without it.
I am using the case in Lilac (a darker purple / dark grey silicone inner layer). It's a cool looking combination and I think seems a little more feminine. That's just my take.
The ports are well covered and easily accessible. Both the earphone and the USB port port covers are a little stiff at first but loosen up pretty quickly with use. The case detracts from some of the initial beauty of the HTC One (I got the Stealth Black) but at least to start ... I am sticking with this case. I also purchased the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case for HTC One (2013) - Retail Packaging when I want to switch things up a bit. I have fumbled with the phone a couple of times (no complete drops) but I suspect the same protection as usual.
Nice job Otterbox.
Buttons are not a chore to press
Sturdy, confident feel
Difficult to take on/off
Such a sexy case. It doesn't come with a screen protector, so I bought a TruShield one and it fits perfectly underneath the Otterbox. Before this case, I had a knock-off Lifeproof case and I had to apply an incredible amount of pressure for the my phone buttons to work. With this case, my phone's buttons are MUCH easier to press. The case is a little difficult to take on and off, but that is only a small downside to its sturdy design. The phone is not 100% covered, so keep in mind that this case is not waterproof.
