5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Headset - Best I've Ever Had! But... 11 June 2014

...be forewarned, there is something about that hinge for the boom-section that keeps breaking.

This is the third or fourth of these headsets I've had (I've lost count). They are stellar headsets, though a little confusing to operate (see below). The thing that keeps causing me to have to buy a new headset is the plastic hinge that boom-section (where the mic rests) keeps breaking. One might ask, "Then why do you keep buying this particular model?" To but it basically, because the design and is a stellar design that I have yet to see mirrored by any other manufacturer. By opening and closing the boom-section, you can turn the unit on and off. That means no unexpectedly dead batteries when you go to use your hands-free functionality. The headset will also report expected battery life when you first turn it on. "More than X hours of talk time."

As for the "confusing part" - I have no idea why someone would think MUTE is a more commonly used feature than DIAL. That being said, I still can't fathom why the MUTE button is on the outside (big silver button) but the dial button is the orange button on the back of the unit. More often than not, I find I've hit the VOLUME button whilst trying to hit the DIAL button. (You have to grasp the unit between your thumb and middle finger to hit the orange DIAL button with your index finger.)

However, quirky design flaw aside, this is a very solid unit that I will continue to purchase until Motorola pigeonholes it or another manufacturer surpasses the design and build-quality of this unit.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best of All 10 December 2012

I've tried many of the products, to include Jawbone, Jawbone icon, among others, and this Motorala Elite Flip is in my experience the best. It comes with enough ear pieces to fit the most finicky ear and does not have to be flush against jaw or cheek to work excellently. It pairs easily and the on/off is so simple, just flip the bottom piece. Talk time is excellent and I don't charge mine for a number of days. The sound quality is excellent both receiving and the connected party will comment how 'good' the audio is. I strongly recommend this product!
4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bluetooth 14 October 2012

I have use several bluetooth for awhile - Sony ericsson, Plantronic 975, Jabra BT530 and Motorola HX550

By far this is the better bluetooh I have use, usually require the following items
1. Loud and clear speaker
2. Noise Reduction
3. Easy to switch on/off

So far.. none of what I use fully can fulfilled my needs but motorola Elite Flip and HX550 but I lost my HX550 so replace with Elite Flip.

It is loud and clearer even as compare to HX550 and my existing Plantronic 975. Noise reduction wise I think almost on par and elite flip is far easy to switch on/off as compare to Plantronic, Jabra, and my old Sony Ericsson.

The only caveats for this bluetooth is the received called button at the position that I kept accidently press on it while trying to put it on.

The other is when using for iphone and while making a call, ring tone will suddenly disappear which I don not know if it is a feature or a bug. This problem is similar in HX550.

Love this bluetooth... and look wise is also very elegant and professional
1.0 out of 5 stars Great Headset - Until you use it for a few months. 17 December 2012

Only negative is the button used to disconnect a call or initiate voice dialing. It is not ergonomic. Not easy to use in that respect.

REVISION: I originally rated this headset 4 stars but after a few months' use I have had to reduce it to 1 star. I have never owned a bluetooth headset that deteriorated so quickly. Under normal usage and storage this headset really fell apart. The volume button randomly fell off and the cosmetics of the paint and surfaces degenerated quickly. Most importantly the functionality decreased significantly as well. The headset presently loses it's bluetooth connection to my phone randomly and frequently leaving me scrambling to change the audio output in time to save the call before the other party assumes the call was dropped. This is particularly annoying (and dangerous) when driving which is the primary function of my headset. Three times recently the headset just started blaring distortion noise in my ear. Obviously this unit is failing and far too soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound - Not as Durable As I Had Hoped 28 April 2014

Use these daily and sound and fit are great. However, after a few months, the metallic paint started to chip and flake near the "hinge" where the end is flipped open to turn on the device. Frequent opening and closing of this "flipper" not only has chipped/peeled the paint, but it no longer snaps smartly open, but rather swings readily with no satisfying feeling that it will stay in place. But, it still works and sounds awesome, but it shouldn't "wear out" so quickly. I expect a little better build quality from Motorola.
