This stand is a gift from the heavens above!!!! Build is amazing and sturdy. Easy to install move and adjust. Press a button to adjust the joint angle and to release the side arm that clamps the phone. There are also two legs that can snap in and out if you want
something holding the bottom of the phone. I have an iPhone plus and I use the stand sideways and I don't have to use the legs. I was curious to see the actual sturdiness of the stand, 4 sharp turns 2 high speed speed bumps and a couple break checks later. Barely even moved. Awesome. Just awesome.

I've uploaded some pictures of the angles the phone mount can do. It can go each way in every direction. I still think it's an amazing stand!!!! Hope that helps.

I just got mine last night and I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and solid engineering on this thing. Its SOLID, fits my car perfectly, and the phone hold/position/release mechanism is better than anything I could find in a store. I took it to work to show colleagues and everyone wants one now..... The cupholder thing is a nice touch as I can throw it in the backseat if the space is needed and I don't have to drill holes in my car or mess with suction cups. BTW, the 2 articulation points rotate fully 180 degrees, so if your cup holder is in a strange spot... you can position it in multiple angles very easily. Very nice purchase you will not regret. One last thing, I measured the opening width... it will easily hold a phone 3.5" wide with a few millimeters to spare. Height is not a non-issue as the bottom "stops" fold flat so in theory, your phone could be a foot long without issue.... some additional info for you people with tablet sized phones. Fits my wife's LG G4 easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best mount I've found so far, and I have tried a LOT of them. 11 August 2016

I have a Nissan Murano so my dashboard is very curvy and has a combination of materials and surfaces that have made it difficult to use a vent mount or a suction mount. This mount can lift in and out as needed, not leaving a permanent footprint like the sticky adhesive circles that come with some mounts.

Pros: Very sturdy, perfect height (for my car), holds the phone firmly, installing and removing is just like placing a coffee mug in or out of the cup holder, adjusts to any angle that I want.

Cons: Only one I can think of is the loss of a cup-holder while using the mount. This is fine by me, most of my driving is solo commuting.

3.0 out of 5 stars May work for your situation; not for my tiny car. 12 March 2016

I bought this for use in my Mazda Miata which is a 2-seater sports car with very little room for a phone (needed for navigation). I tried many options, including suction cups on the windshield, cd drive holders, and vent clips before trying this cup holder seated phone dock. There are many benefits this product has over other the others, such as not being in front of the heater vents when the heater is running, and not having to worry about it falling off of the windshield in the hot Texas summer months. The cradle fit even my large iPhone 6+ in an Otterbox defender case.

I have two problems with this cradle. One is how you expand the base so that it fits snugly in the cup holder. Other models have a knob at the top of the base that you twist to expand the legs. This model however has you twist the entire arm. This makes it much harder to find the perfect position because if you position the arm first you have to move it to tighten the base, and if you tighten the base first the arm might not be in the best position. The other brands' method of twisting a knob to expand the legs means you can position the arm, twist the knob to tighten the base, and you're done.

Secondly I had an issue with the flexibility of the arm. The top of the cradle itself rotates in a circle and the arm moves along one axis, but you can't move the arm to the left or right. Had this product been able to do so it would have been perfect and fit the needs of any car. As it stands there are a very limited number of positions the arm and cradle can attain, none of which worked in my car. In the end I gave up on every phone holder I found on Amazon and located ProClips.com where they make plastic pieces that clip into the seams of the car. The clips are made specifically for each make, model, and year of car and the cradle is made specifically for the phone make, model, and case type. This was a very expensive option by itself, but compared to the amount of money I spent trying different phone cradles on Amazon (and not returning them since they worked fine, just not what my car needed) I wish I had found their website first and saved the money.

Hope this helps.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great cradle for iPhone or any other smartphone 7 July 2016

As I use my iPhone 6 for navigation and for my music, I wanted something that would hold it securely and allow me to glance down at the screen from the driver's seat if I needed to. Thus I purchased this item to hold my iPhone in one of the cupholders in my Subaru Outback. The cradle fits in the cupholder and with just a few clock-wise turns, it expanded for a snug fit.

Placing the iPhone securely into the cradle was a simple task. Simply press the back button to make the two side arms separate widely from each other, place iPhone or any other smartphone onto the two support "legs" at the bottom of the cradle, press the two side arms closer until they are holding the device securely and you're done. After driving with the iPhone in the cradle for hours, I found that it was still snug in the cradle with no loosening whatsoever. I am confident that the cradle will still hold my phone securely even when I go off-road.

The only issue I have is that the supporting "legs" at the bottom to hold up the iPhone seem rather flimsy. But as they have held up for three months now, I guess they are not as flimsy as they appear. Overall, I found this cradle to be excellent for its intended use, the build quality is good, and most importantly, my iPhone has never slipped out of the cradle yet.
