Delightful ... the perfect holiday read.
It's the most enchanting, beautiful tale.
A warm and tender story about love, loss and second chances, peppered with memorable characters, wonderful set pieces and some beautifully black humour. Ove is a joy from start to finish.
It's warm, funny, and ultimately almost unbearably moving.
An uplifting, life-affirming and often comic tale of how kindness, love and happiness can be found in the most unlikely places.
The international phenomenon: quirky and bittersweet, heartbreaking yet outrageously funny. Perfect for fans of Rachel Joyce's The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and Jonas Jonasson's The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of a Window and Disappeared.See all Product description

An opinionated and cantankerous Ove, every day prepares for his death to join his deceased wife, Sonja. But time after time, his plans are delayed, as there is always something to take care of. His neighbours - One who drive automatic cars, one suffering from amnesia, two clingy 3 year and 7 years kids, a gay, a pregnant woman, a lanky programmer, a teenage lover, an iPhone app developer and a cat who is high headed just like One joins in the story to make it an emotional ride. You will laugh, become sad and fall in love with Ove, all coz of the clean and simple writing of Backman.
Generally, in a story, one tends to feel the emotion of protagonist, but here you will greet Ove just like his neighbours. You would want to poke him, pester him so that he can retort and you will get to understand him a bit more. You will witness his journey with a hope of seeing a man changing his disgust towards others into a somewhat bearable state. In the end, you will be happy and content to see Ove and his continued obnoxious repulse towards his neighbours.
