Brilliant travel book. This is the first lonely planet book that I have bought and I am very pleased with it. It has a lot of useful information about restaurants, hotels and even their contact numbers! Love the images and maps. Worth every penny. I compared a lot of travel books and this is the best travel book so far.

As usual great, the best. The only disadvantage is that is is outdated slightly by the time you get to read it, and so you have to wait for the next best/latest edition. But still there are allways features enough to keep you ahead & trendy, nevermind the updation!

Delivery was within a day and great packing, etc. I traveled to four of the north-east states and the book was pretty much useless most of the times because the information is unclear and I asked the hotel/people the writer recommended and they said that he didn't even see some of the places he's mentioned and written it based on what they told him. A lot of really nice places also haven't been mentioned (you can judge by the fact that a state like Meghalaya has only four pages (minus 2 and a half of just hotel listings) Also, the writer seemed to prefer comfort so has listed mainly the expensive hotels which are atrocious for a backpacker (even the hotels listed in the book that have dorms haven't been mentioned. So, skip the northeast section. Otherwise, a great book :-)

I bought this lovely travel book for my brother's 25th birthday and he was very elated to receive it. The book offers minute details about what to do while traveling to various parts of India. And not just this, it also provides information about how to reach, what to wear, where to be, and everything an avid traveller needs to know while going to distinct places. Good book and exceptionally helpful!

Extensively covers the well known and remotely known travel destinations. However, there are no pictures to go along, the inclusion of which could have helped in choice making. Hotel information is concise and adequate. Tourist tips could be better

It is at least the best but definetly can be better..the places can be more detailed and the hotels also can be more informative. The maps are not so helpfull so definetly as the map is very important, I think the map should be a little more better. I would love and look forward to see the "solo travelling subject" to be more descriptive and detailed. That's all overall it is a complete guide book ans I am quite sure that it is comparatively the best...

A good guide for Indian travellers. I used this guide while travelling to Pondicherry, and found it very helpful. The price of this book at Amazon (approx Rs.1100) makes this book a 'value for money' proposition.
