way better than the packet breads available.
Only precaution: Always use yeast powder manufactured within 2-3 months of purchase date, even though expiry on packet is longer, it wont work, otherwise the bakers yest brands available in India work well. Whole milk works well instead of milk powder.
Do read the manual and recipe book, initially follow it , then you get good idea to do what you want.
My mom got a hang of it and now can make breads without even measuring the ingredients [moms hate to measure milk and flour and salt and yeast ;)]
The product is well built, sturdy and hope it lasts real long. It looks stylish too.
excellent deliver timings and discount from amazon
Overall: Not for people who love only the typical fried punjabi food and rotis and typical britanai double rotis, but for those who like to experiment, understand cooking and flavours, and want healthy breads !
But once replaced, I can categorically say that it is a fine machine. The accompanying instruction manual is clear and informative. The machine is incredibly easy to use - just pour in the ingredients in the proper order, set your program, set the weight setting and crust colour and start it. It works on its own with no interference from you! Be sure you have the ingredients in correct proportions (a kitchen scale is an invaluable add-on). In particular be careful about the yeast that you use. I have tried a variety of brands with poor to indifferent results and I find that yeast from Urban Platter works the best.
As you go along, the automatic dispenser becomes something that you get addicted to. I have made a variety of breads on this machine and they have been uniformly good. How else would you get a bread with cheese, olives oregano and chilli flakes that tastes like something out of this world? We have stopped buying bread from the market and all my friends come to me for speciality breads these days!
Is there a flaw? Just a small one. The paddle in the machine often stays in the bread and I have yet to find an easy way to extract it. Thus, a couple of slices of bread are often in tatters, but the rest comes out fine.
But for this, it is an excellent machine. If like me this is your first breadmaker, you will need a couple of failed attempts to get it just right. But thereafter it is very very easy to use and the smell of freshly baked bread is heavenly!
The breadmaker I received is initially for the UK market, it has the UK plug but it comes with an adapter to fit our local power sockets and the Voltage they use in the UK is the same as here 220 Volt, so no problem.
The warranty card coming with the device , says the warranty cover is UK only. So I am not sure how this would be handled in a case of technical problems. That is the only drawback.
The device itself is top quality, a high end product and sturdy.
It takes some time to get to know what flour to use,I use only maida for white bread and it rises beautifully, I usually grind the sugar a bit , so it dissolves faster, cause the sugar crystals here are much bigger than in the west and I use a tiny bit more yeast and sugar than recommended in the recipes.
It gets a bit more tricky using atta, the bread doesn't rise much and is very compact(.In the beginning I used only and that was a flop)
I find if you use 2/3 maida and 1/3 atta still gives good results, it is more compact and not as fluffy and soft as the only Maida bread, but it depends on how you like your bread
. Mixing in seeds is also fun and after some time with more experience and understanding how the machine works, one starts to become a bit more daring and inventive.
I use Blue Bird yeast and Sagar skimmed milk powder
The breadmaker really makes baking bread and preparing yeast dough so easy, anyone who knows how to bake bread by hand knows how much kneading and time it takes to make bread and yeast dough. This machine makes it child's play( less than 10 minutes work really) and the breads come out so yummi, no comparison to what you get at the bakers!
The breadmaker gets 5 stars, but the warranty issue takes away 1 star

Firstly the machine looks nice. As an engineer I am impressed with materials and finishes. Our experience of baking (> 10 breads made) so far has been very mediocre. Read morePublished on 29 November 2013 by Anil Mangla
