This book gets to the point about a lot of the algorithms and calculations. I feel like it could really be summarized into maybe 1/3 the size and still get you all the information you need about the various modulation processes.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good reference 2 May 2010
By Jason A. Schmedes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This textbook is good as a very dense reference to communication systems. The text is a little confusing at times, but with some supplementals it is a good learning experience. The book is not for those new to communications. Some background on the subject would be beneficial before reading this text.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good 2 June 2010
By J. Yasmineh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Surprisingly good for a comm. theory text. It's fairly comprehensive and the writing is clear and accessible (rather than being overly dry). The authors clearly know how to write, which is always helpful in a book that has to contain so many mathematical treatments.

Of course, you won't be able to pick this up and run straight out of the tenth grade (unless you're special) but it's pretty decent as textbooks go.
