For upsc art and culture syllabus there used to be only one book that is spectrum's art and culture , and that was such a horrible book that even in full light people were having problem whie reading it ( let alone understanding what's written or developing interest while reading).
But this books have all the features which the aspirant needs . they are
It is an interesting read
Important words are highlighted
Good paper quality
Nice font size
Simple language
Have pictures of art forms which makes it simple to understanding and visualize.
Needless to say that being written by an IAS officer he has kept all the aspects in mind that an aspirant want in an book.
HAPPY READING

On an average in each page three - four word are there where you would need a google search of them , if they are used they should have been explained in brackets
Those jargons are used directly without any meaning explained ...

If one wants just to mug up things its good for him , if one wants to clear basics and is in search of logical approach pf subject must consider some other source its not at all good
Thats only bad point of the book
..
If one doest likes to read ccrt website then only he should go for it

Everything is perfect about this classic avant-garde by Nitin Sir...But on the flipside you can't rely on this book solely for your UPSC prepration...His main focus in this book is on various aspect that covers your mains portion but for prelims some minuscule information is missing which can be supplemented by GK Today's Art and Culture notes which is best for prelims and mains both..But the use of images and tables to highlight important ancient works is what makes this book above par in comparison to other books and notes available in the market...I think it is a must buy but you have to supplement this book with other notes too for your complete insight on Art n Culture portion in GS Paper-I...So go for this book...you won't regret believe me....
