5.0 out of 5 stars I can't imagine a better TPU case for my Moto X 18 October 2013

I have the VZW Developer's Edition of the Moto X -- white back, all-black front. The Frost Clear TPU case from Hyperion fits perfectly and looks great.

I also ordered the similar Diztronic frost/matte/clear case at the same time. This Hyperion case is easily the best of the two. Unlike the Diztronic, this Hyperion fits tightly and perfectly, with no play along the edges of the screen, and with perfect alignment of all of the cutouts. The Diztronic's cutouts, in contrast, are misaligned by 1mm or so. Also, the Diztronic is lacking a cutout for the rear indented Motorola logo, which the Hyperion does have. With or without a case, that indented logo is crucial for stable, single-handed operation of the Moto X. The tip of my index finger rests in that indent while I use the thumb of the same hand to swipe the screen and type.

One quibble worth mentioning for ANY case that you use with the Moto X. Because the Moto X's screen is *almost* edge-to-edge, any TPU case will have to wrap just enough around the edge of the screen to stay on the phone. This means that your fingers will not be able to contact the screen at the very extremes of the left and right edges. For the vast majority of apps, this will be a non-issue, but if you're using an app that does require accurate touch all the way to the edge, all TPU cases will hinder such gestures.

I've never liked putting screen protectors on my phones, so I haven't tried the protector that came with this case. But unapplied, the protector looks very clear and it is precision-cut with clean edges.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Simple Case! 23 September 2013

This is a typical TPU case bundled with standard screen protector. I really like the colors this manufacturer offers and also that it's unbranded. The cut outs are perfectly aligned but the volume and power buttons are not cut out, which could be a plus or minus depending on what you want. The dimple on the back is a nice touch and keeps the feel Motorola intended for this phone.

There were 2 issues I experienced with my Moto X that I believe are a result of having a case on it. I don't believe it's this particular cases fault, I think any case would cause these symptoms. I did test with the case on and off and I'm fairly certain a case caused these very minor complaints.
The first one is that the proximity sensor on the Moto X is very sensitive. There have been many times when I was in a call, and the screen did not turn back on when it was time to end the call. After some experimenting, I believe a case on this phone causes a shadow over the proximity sensor in some lighting conditions which causes the screen to not turn back on.
The second issue is that I noticed when I use voice controls with a case on I need to speak louder. I know I'm really nitpicking with this one but it's something to consider.

All in all if you're looking for a simple TPU case that comes in some great colors I can't recommend this one enough. It's difficult to find an unbranded case these days and you just can't go wrong with the price, quality and look that you get with this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars I had to stop using this 20 October 2013

I was super excited to get my Moto X, and have a case that had a spot for the dimple in the back. This case fit the bill, but I hated the way that the buttons worked when in this case. The power button/volume rocker are really hard to push because of the way the case covers them. I used this case for a while, but in the end I ended up taking it off.

As for the screen protector, I never was able to get it on correctly. Usually I don't ever use one for my phones, but I figured since I got one with this case, I would use it, but I couldn't get the protector on without bubbles, even after making sure the screen was pristine before I started.

2.0 out of 5 stars Case had potential but the clear case turned yellow in under two weeks. 28 November 2013

There are some things to like about this case. First, the lack of branding and the cut out for the Moto dimple is great. Love that. It seems like such a small thing, but the cut out for the Moto logo is nice and feels good in the hand. The case also goes on and off well and fits nicely. So that's great. That seems to be true of all the Hyperion TPU Moto X cases. Many other reviewers positive comments also ring true about the case, so note what they have to say about the positives to this case.

However, I had some issues with this case that resulted in me returning it. First, the headphone jack cut out wasn't large enough for my aux cord in my car, which is annoying. I have to pry the case back to plug that in. I can deal with that, even if it's frustrating.

Next, when I saw it had a matte finish, I assumed that meant the entire case. In actuality, it's just the back panel. The edges and wrap around portions are clear, glossy, and rubbery, reminiscent of little girls jelly shoes from the 80s, which wasn't exactly the look I was going for. (I realize this might seem ridiculous, but just go with it.)

Lastly, and most importantly, I noticed a slight yellow tint to it when it first arrived. My bright white-backed phone only accentuated that nasty yellow color. As i had the case for close to two weeks, the yellowing became more noticeable, to the point where others commented on it. I even tried washing it to no avail. That was the deal breaker, and thus when I decided to return it.

I do have the red Hyperion TPU case and am considering keeping that one. However, that's only because I exchanged my Moto X for one with a navy blue back instead of white. The matte red finish looked pink on the white phone. It is also only matte on the back panel, and it's cut out is too small for my pretty standard-sized auxiliary cord, but I'm deciding if I care about that for 7.99. I'm looking at the Air Jacket Grip cases that Motorola sells. I wish Amazon carried them or anything like them, but alas, no luck there. Might return the red one for one of the ones that Motorola sells, but I'm cheap, so I might not...

Anyway, that's my experience with the clear matte finish Hyperion TPU case.

5.0 out of 5 stars great affordable case 20 October 2013

The case fits tightly on my moto x, and seems to offer great protection for the price. It has a big enough lip on the front to keep the screen off of any surface. My favorite part about this case has got to be the hole allowing the dimple on the back of the moto x to still be exposed. Every moto x should have this hole built in!
