5.0 out of 5 stars Goodbye Otterbox, Hello Griffin! 28 November 2014
By A. Grey - Published on Amazon.com

I've only had this case for one day but I absolutely LOVE IT. I've been a loyal Otterbox girl since the iPhone 3GS, but none of them (I've felt) have been as good since that one. So when I got my iPhone 6 I was open to different cases. I can break an anvil, so a good case is absolutely vital for me. I bought a Trent Trentium case to start with because it was inexpensive and had so many good reviews and I wanted something to have right when the phone arrived. The Trentium did its job, but within just a day, I was fed up with it. My issues are listed in the review of that item. Point being, I was looking for a new case. I prefer them with a built in screen protector, but the look and description of this one eventually won me over and I figured I'd risk it. Could. Not. Be. Happier. Though I haven't thrown the phone yet (thankfully) and the case obviously isn't even really water resistant, I feel like it will do a very good job of protecting my phone, provided I don't drop it in a bucket of water.

As other people have said, the screen cover that comes with it IS a little too narrow. Not sure why they even put it in there. I have a glass protector on my phone, and it works just fine with the case. At first, I didn't think the phone was going to fit into the hard plastic part, because the fit is so perfect. But key word there is perfect. The phone sits snuggly in the hard plastic. The silicone outer part went on so easily that I first worried it might pop off just as easily, but that's not the case at all. I've had it in an out of pockets and coats all day, and it's stayed on perfectly. I know what people are saying when they complain that they can't get it in and out of pockets, but I feel like they must mean pockets that are pretty small/tight. This case is the closest thing I've found in design and feel to the Otterbox for the 3GS, and that case was also 'sticky' to get in and out of small pockets. I had no trouble with the pockets on my coat or coveralls, but it won't just 'glide' into the back pocket of your jeans. At least one person said they had issues with it catching their hair and pulling it. I haven't had that problem, and my hair hangs to my thighs and is very curly. Normally my hair will literally reach out and grab things. I'm sure if I dropped the case directly into my curls, or wallowed on it, it would get tangled and pull my hair. But just talking on the phone, I haven't had any issues. A few people have said that the mute switch is very recessed and difficult to reach. It IS very recessed, but I, nor my sister, or her husband had had difficulty engaging it.

Pros: Easy on, fits perfectly with no 'wiggling'
Very comfortable to hold, great shape
On/off and volume switches very easy to use
Great look (my niece informed me Elsa made me the case, because it's 'frozen')
No interference with the camera, whether you use the regular or front-facing
Wider openings for a variety of chargers or headphones/hookups
Very protective, especially if you drop it and the phone lands on its back or sides/corners
Competitive price. At $39 it's right in the middle price-wise. And because it meets or exceeds MIL-STD 801G standards for drop protection, it's a great buy for the price. Much better than either Otterbox or Lifeproof.

Cons: The screen protector they include is a little too narrow. It'd be nice if it just had a built-in screen protector instead
It's not waterproof, obviously, which would make it the best phone case on the planet. I'd settle for it being just water resistant
It does have a particular smell to it, which I'm sure will fade with time, but it annoyed me. I do sleep with the phone on my bed, though, (I use the Sleep Time app, so it needs to be on the edge of the bed) so most people probably aren't going to notice the scent.
4.0 out of 5 stars This case is non-slip and provides good shock absorption when my phone drops on the floor 20 October 2016

This case is non-slip and provides good shock absorption when my phone drops on the floor. It has two parts - the white outer rubber part, and the blue inner hard shell. The white part is very easy to pull on and off, so it is easy to clean off the blue inner part. The blue part is more challenging to get off, as it fits the phone like a glove. The only negative to this case is that I can't plug the phone into speakers or charging devices (other than the lightning cord), as the case adds a 1/4 inch to the phone, so the charge doesn't fit in.

I've had this case nearly two months now and I like it. I've had Griffen producst in the past and have loved them. I still prefer the bulkier cases over this "slim" model, but I do feel like this has been protective of my phone. I'm clumsy and have dropped my phone a fair amount of times and so far, so good. I did buy a glass protective screen cover for this phone because the case does not have anything to protect the main part of the screen.

The plastic case cracked on the side. I ordered another one in black, so far it's held up fine. I had the same type of case for an iPod and it lasted me various years, for the life of my use of the device. I do like the rubber casing. I've dropped my phone a handful of times and the phone itself has not cracked. Gave a three star rating because the side chipped and broke but I hope not to have any further issue with the new black one I ordered.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Griffin Protects! 9 December 2014

I really like the case. I've had it a few weeks and dropped the phone once. No problems! I bought the tech armor glass to install instead of the plastic that came with the case, and have extra screen protection. I tried the selfie pic from the front, and the case obscured part of the front camera on my I-phone 6. A little problem that I can live with.I had the Griffin Military style case before, and this one is more low profile but good for my needs (not needing rugged waterproof ability.) Well worth the price!
