Review

Praise for George R. R. Martin and A Song of Ice and Fire

“The only fantasy series I’d put on a level with J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings . . . It’s a fantasy series for hip, smart people, even those who don’t read fantasy.”—Chicago Tribune

“Martin amply fulfills the first volume’s promise and continues what seems destined to be one of the best fantasy series ever written.”—The Denver Post, on A Clash of Kings

“Martin has produced—is producing, since the series isn’t over—the great fantasy epic of our era. It’s an epic for a more profane, more jaded, more ambivalent age than the one Tolkien lived in.”—Lev Grossman, Time

“Addictive . . . George R. R. Martin has created the unlikely genre of the realpolitik fantasy novel.”—Rolling Stone, on A Feast for Crows

“Epic fantasy as it should be written: passionate, compelling, convincingly detailed and thoroughly imagined.”—The Washington Post, on A Dance with Dragons

“I always expect the best from George R. R. Martin, and he always delivers.”—Robert Jordan

The delivery was on time, but when it arrived the box set looked like it was torn on purpose. The right side was torn completely! >:(
The first book, as everyone is saying, had the ned stark cover which separates it from the set..
Also the font of the 3rd-1st part and 4th book was bigger then the rest of the books, which should not happen in a box set!
The rest of the books did not have any problems and paper quality was also decent with readable font!
On the whole i would not recommend you to buy this unless you dont care about above problems ^^^

The package was delivered within 3-4 days in perfect condition.
Two cons were :
1. Although its a box set the first book has the Ned Stark from the HBO version on its cover
2. The third book is divided into two books with the font a bit larger compared to the other books
But I didn't really care about these two things. I've seen the tv show too but the books just take you in a completely different world. You actually understand all the characters and how they think. I had gone to a bookstore near my house to inquire about the box set's price and found out it was 2,900/- bucks so it the amazon deal was pretty sweet as it saved me around 1200/- bucks and I got the same thing! :D
The books are complete genius with storyline following the lives of some key characters. The whole universe is quite well thought out with the story always containing shocking twists! I'd recommend this as a great buy for any avid book reader.

The product shown is not the one they are selling. The picture amazon shows is of the Boxed Set by Clays PLC being sold on flipkart for around 5000. However these guys are delivering the box set by Thomson Press and it's quality is utterly pathetic! No wonder the price is cheap!

1] First of all, Game Of Thrones is the one with the HBO cover which is ridiculous as a box set is supposed to have the same imprints.
2] Half the books are set in 8 pt. MINION PRO which looks good.
3] The rest of the books are set in 10 pt. TRUMP MEDIEVAL with utterly ugly iconography.

How are two different imprints with the same cover series, and one television imprint being sold in the same box set is beyond my understanding. The books set in TRUMP MEDIEVAL are so ugly that they look like cheap fakes that one sees on the road sides being sold for 50 bucks. Do not buy this set! When I opened the manufacturer's sealed plastic I found so much dust inside and the books looked like they had been used. Instead if you want a decent collection, go buy the set printed by ST. Clays PLC which has awesome quality books in the same imprint with the same cover series and all set in MINION PRO with beautiful iconography. OR if you want to avoid any confusion altogether, then buy the boxed set printed by Bantam Spectra which has no Indian Editions.

This set has confirmed my suspicion that Indian Presses cannot print books in decent quality. Maybe editors at Harper India were sleeping when these sets were being printed out or maybe Harper India has absolutely zero quality control, but one thing is clear: Books printed in the UK are so much better!

First of all let me start by telling the Indian Book buyer the Choice is yours, Whether you would like to purchase the [Imported Paper back Box Set Edition] which is more correctly split into 7 books, there being two seperate books to a {Storm of Swords - Steel & Snow} in one book, {Storm of Swords - Blood & Gold} in the other book. The same is the case with {A Dance with Dragons - Dreams & Dust} in one book, {A Dance with Dragons - After the feast} in the other book with a brownish Paper back Cover. However you can also go for the Indian sub-continent Edition where only the {Storm of Swords - Steel & Snow} in one book, {Storm of Swords - Blood & Gold} in the other book, is available in this edition. The box set book of the Dance with Dragons comes in one book with the two Parts Amalgamated into One book with a Creamish Paperback Cover. That is the only difference. Now, getting down to the Characters of the Story, If you've enjoyed J.R.R. Tolkein's The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, The Two Towers, The Battle for Middle Earth, and Also if you have enjoyed reading, Christopher Paolini's Eragon, Brisingr, Inheritance, you are going to enjoy reading this Collection of Five books. The Box Set, Each book has the same dimension as the 6" E-InK Kindle PaperWhite, The Font size in the books is about the size of Font 2 in the Kindle PaperWhite. The best part about reading this Story on Kindle PaperWhite is that comes with the Index to every book. The common Characters in the Index are Daenerys pronounced like the ancient Roman Currency, Denarius, whose anme sounds more Gaelic, Tyrion, Branm Jon, Reek who appears in Book Five sounds more like some sort of creature, more like Lazerbeak, from Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen. Then there are the lovely Maiden like Melisandre and Arya.Read more ›

I'd been looking for a box set in which all the books matched (there are others available, with 6/7 books, in which the first book has a picture of Sean Benn)... Gladly, the set matches.

The quality of the books was a bit of a let down, the paper not being of the best quality. But given the price, it is a good deal.
