1.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising 27 September 2010

I ordered this item, as it looks from the picture, for my cell headset. The one in the picture has 3 rings and 4 contacts jack, but the one that I received has only 2 rings and 3 contacts jack. They should change the picture in the advertisement so the customers do not get confused by it.
1.0 out of 5 stars One ear only! 16 October 2009

I switched from a Blackberry 8830 to an iPhone 3G, and wanted to keep my soft ear-bud headset that I was using with my BBerry (actually a Plantronics headset). It had a 2.5mm 4 band plug, and the iPhone used a 3.5mm 4 band plug.

I read the reviews, both positive and negative, and figured that I could risk the $0.99. I guess you get what you pay for!

I only get sound out of the right side. The microphone works fine. If I slowly plug the 2.5mm headset into the female side of the adapter, I can get both ear-pieces working, but the mic then cuts out. I have to leave the plug out about 1/16" to get stereo, so it looks like the connectors in the adapter socket don't quite line up.

I've tried this with my iPhone and my iPod Nano, and my Plantronics headset and the original Blackberry headset. Results are the same. When everything is plugged in tight, only the right channel works. If I back off the headset plug, both left and right work, but no microphone.

If anyone finds an adapter that consistently works, please post it here!
5.0 out of 5 stars Helio Ocean 2 and Plantronics M114 headset. 13 October 2009
By Alan C. - Published on Amazon.com

I drove to Best Buy, Fry's Electronics and tons of different Radio Shacks and none of them had an adapter for me to use a Plantronics M114 headset with a 2.5mm plug to my Helio Ocean 2. The Helio Ocean 2 is different from the Helio Ocean 1. The 2 uses a 3.5mm female hole while the 1 uses the 2.5mm female hole. After reading all the other reviews and Helio forum about how stuff isn't standardized because most of the stuff available out there has only two sections rather than three, I tried this one.

I was skeptical as other people in other reviews had purchased other adapters and it didn't work out for them. They just chalked it up to posterity since it was more expensive to return the items. Fortunately, I can say that this adapter, even though it was designed for the iPhone, it works with the Helio Ocean 2 and Plantronics M114 headset. I cannot claim that it works for any other combination since I haven't tested it.

Best of luck to everyone else trying to find the right adapter. I've found mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfect for I-Phone 6 May 2009

I was desperately looking for an adapter where I could use
my existing hands free headset with the Iphone.
I plugged my headset that I used with my previous LG phone into this
adapter and then plugged the other end into the Iphone, Perfection!

Apple gives you ear buds with a mic to use in the box, but personally
ear buds wont stay in my ears.
I went to all the retail stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack, ATT store, NOTHING!

I was happy to find this item on Amazon, I have had no issues so far and I use it everyday. Had this for about a month.

My only comment is on the construction, the wire thickness on the adapter is thinner that I would expect, so maybe after a while it may break.

1.0 out of 5 stars low sound volume makes adapter almost useless 26 October 2009

I tried this adapter for my LG Chocolate phone (3.5 mm jack)/Plantronics headset (2.5 mm). Even with the phone set at max volume the sound level in my headset is barely audible. Not all cables are alike; experiment with different models. What ended up working best for my headset/phone is the Blackberry hands free cable, purchased at Verizon wireless store. More money ($12) but excellent performance.
