Stephen King was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of The Rings, and he wanted to write his own behemoth, and thus started the journey to The Dark Tower.

The Gunslinger is a great beginning to a series, but it is mysterious and sometimes too much enigmatic to the length, it becomes a problem of its own.

Roland The Gunslinger is chasing The Man in Black. Why? You don't know. From the beginning till the end, you have not explained everything, and when you begin to think that there will be an explanation for the events, it just raises more questions and ends with a beginning.

It is mysterious that is how I will describe this book. It is not perfect, but it is not a bad book either. It is short, but eloquently told the tale and the beginning of something amazing.

If you're a Stephen King fan, then I will recommend this to you, if you're looking for a good fantasy read, I will recommend it to you. If, however, you are not looking forward to investing yourself in a long series and find it tiring, then this book is not for you.as it is short and enigmatic but it is a really enjoyable book on its own and the character of Roland and The Man in Black are one of the best characters I have seen from Stephen King.

All great fantasy series begin slowly and this one is no different. I am sure if you are planning to buy this book you would know the acclaim behind the dark tower series. If not kindly read my good reads review of the book.

I will instead write my review of the book, its edition and print quality here. For the price, this book is extremely worth the money. Furthermore, this is the revised edition, therefore has a few more (30 to be exact) than the original print along with an introduction from the author. The book quality is what you pay for, paperback.

Brilliantly written novel. The language is a little difficult, and the first few pages will just throw you off as to what is happening in the book, but by the end, you get some context about the events of the book and what the storyline actually is. Short book, not very long, but the series looks promising after reading this. Looking forward to this series!
