“He who searches for evil, must first look at his own reflection.”

----Confucius

Synopsis:

A gripping standalone psychological thriller about marriage, manipulation and murder by the internationally bestselling author of ALEX.

Sophie is haunted by the things she can't remember - and visions from the past she will never forget.

One morning, she wakes to find that the little boy in her care is dead. She has no memory of what happened. And whatever the truth, her side of the story is no match for the evidence piled against her.

Her only hiding place is in a new identity. A new life, with a man she has met online.

But Sophie is not the only one keeping secrets.

Sophie is a young widow, who is haunted by the faces of the ghosts from her past and is also faced by sudden memory lapses.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Up To Par With The Author's Other Works! 1 November 2016

This book was a disappointment. The plot is very confusing with constant jumping to new venues without even a heading to indicate a change. It read more like disjointed entries from a diary. The ending was mildly surprising, but not enough to save the overall reading experience. Action scenes are almost non-existent, and certainly toned down when they do appear. The jumbled story line makes this a difficult book to read, and definitely diminishes the enjoyment.

This book has a couple of tasty plot twists. Our lead character, Sophie, is descending into a sort of madness and is on the run from the police. Slowly what has been really happening is revealed.
4.0 out of 5 stars Its hard to say that I enjoyed this book 9 December 2016

This was my first exposure to this author. It's a gruesome novel, especially in its depiction of psychological torture. Its hard to say that I enjoyed this book, but I stayed with it and found it ultimately satisfying in a creepy unsettling kind of way. Its not for the faint-hearted.

I expected a good suspense based on his previous trilogy, but this was a real thriller! I read most of it in one sitting, I could not put it down!
