4.0 out of 5 stars A few drops of crazy glue makes this mount almost perfect. 17 September 2016
By Dave K. - Published on Amazon.com

This mount has three separate parts: one part clamps to your handlebar, and your iPhone 6 Plus in an Otterbox Defender case slides into a second part. But the third part that snaps in the middle between the handlebar mount and the phone holder is where the problem lies. As other reviewers have reported, the phone holder part tends to un-snap itself from the middle adapter when you hit even a modest bump. That sends the phone flying. Luckily my phone survived several these falls thanks to the Defender case. But having to stop every few minutes to pick up your phone from the road isn't a desirable situation. So thought I'd try crazy gluing the two plastic parts (i.e., the middle adapter and the phone holder) together. It worked! I've since put several hundred miles on my bike and have not had a single flying phone incident

So my recommendation to bicyclists who want to be able to view the screen of their iPhone 6 Plus in an Otterbox Defender case while they are riding is to buy this product, but DO NOT use it until after you have super-glued the two plastic parts that snap together. That will, of course, require you to buy a whole new mount if you ever change to a different model phone. But it's better than potentially smashing your phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised with quality product! 10 November 2016

Before using this device, I followed the advice of reviewer Dave K. elsewhere, and applied a drop of glue to the back of the cradle before snapping it together with the handlebar mount. (In my instance, I used Duco Cement.) Then, being an extra-cautious sort, I mounted the device onto my bicycle and rode with it empty for the first ten miles of my local paved bike path. It seemed to survive the occasional tree root bump and asphalt crack without problem. So I slipped my iPhone 6s Plus (in its Otterbox Defender case) into the cradle and rode the remaining 35 miles without a hitch.

This is a quality product, once you secure the two components together as described above.

The handlebar clamp is great: the jaws close down by turning a finger tab, and once that is screwed tight, you lock it down by pushing the tab over. It's easy and quick to use, and it holds tightly.

The ball-and-socket articulation allows you to tilt and orient the phone cradle as you like, and then tighten that adjustment down with a knurled ring.

The phone cradle is lined with a nice fabric padding. Inserting and removing your Defender case is easy, yet the phone rests securely within the cradle's raised edges and "arms" while biking. No need for rubber bands or other additional safety measures.

The device has a solid, quality feel and the workmanship looks good. Packaging is high-end, too... the bag it comes in looks and feels like something you'd expect from Apple itself.

The only caveat I'd offer is this: the articulation between the handlebar clamp and the phone cradle is a long reach, and it has components (such as the ball and socket) that complicate things. So I'm not sure how this would work for really "highly energetic" mountain bikers. But for street biking and commuting and pleasure pathways, it's ideal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good bike mount, but be careful on bumpy roads 7 August 2016

This bike mount is quick and easy to mount to your bike and the mount seems very secure. inserting/removing your phone is simple. The one negative is that the platform that the phone mounts to is a little too flexible. I hit a very rough patch on the trail I was riding (tree roots had caused several large ripples in the asphalt), and the phone popped out of the holder. Fortunately I was able to catch my phone before it bounced out, but it easily could have ended poorly. I now use a heavy rubber bank to secure the phone to the mount when riding on that particular trail.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great design! 21 February 2017

Before using this device, I followed the advice of the other reviews applying a drop of glue to the back of the cradle before snapping it together with the handlebar mount. Overall, very pleased with the Bike Mount which allows the insert and removal of the phone. Once in place the cradle holds the phone nicely even when unexpected joints or bumps come up along the ride. Encased did a nice job with the design as well as universal positions depending on how you prefer to mount your phone.

Great job Encased!
