4.0 out of 5 stars For all intents and purposes, as good as the leather version 15 February 2015

I have this as well as the leather version of the case. Personally, I prefer the slightly grippier feel of the leather - which, frankly, I'm not convinced is actually leather, but, hey, they say it is. *Anyway*... the leather case is slightly grippier and moderately softer in the back, but this case feels very similar in the hand, and the back has the same sort of excellent feel as the back of the 64GB OnePlus One. This case is a bit cheaper than the leather one, and I don't think you'll feel disappointed if you get it instead.

That said, the deals as they are now put the leather case at only a few dollars more (at the moment). If that's still the case, I'd go for the leather version, but it's not a strong recommendation over this.

Both cases protect the back and sides of the phone. The top and bottom are pretty much exposed, and the front is as well. Very light ridges mean the glass won't touch a smooth tabletop if placed face down, but otherwise there's minimal protection at best. I recommend a screen saver for most. Personally, I use this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars ... it was made by Amazon and I figured what better place to get a case for my phone than ... 18 July 2015

I bought this for my Fire Phone since it was made by Amazon and I figured what better place to get a case for my phone than from the phone maker. The experience thus far has been pleasant.
I would like to review this case for what it is - a case for a phone.

Fit.
The case fits well on the phone. It slim fitting and doesn't make the phone feel bulky at all. All of the ports and buttons have their cutouts and are readily accessible. The case covers the left side, right side and the back of the phone. It leaves maybe 1-2 millimetres of material buffer spacing on the top and bottom sides of the phone. The entire face of the phone is expose and I don't mind this so much since it's a touch screen phone and I prefer to have all of my screen real estate available to me. There's much less buffer material available in comparison to the top and bottom. The case is almost flush with the surface of the screen.

Feel.
The case has a nice feel to it in my opinion. The sides are smooth and the back is textured. There's also a neatly placed Amazon logo on the back of the case. The best thing about the material is that it allows the phone to come out of the pocket easily. My previous case experience was with an Otterbox silicone case for a Blackberry 9850. It would always prove a tad bit difficult to get it out of the pocket without pulling the pockets out.

Look.
The case looks great on the phone. The combination is quite attractive and I've received a few compliments on the look of it.

Quality.
The quality of the case feels good. It's lightweight but feels sturdy enough to keep the phone protected through normal wear and tear. It doesn't feel flimsy at all. I don't think there's much else I am able to say about the quality for right now.

Price.
I don't mind paying the price since I prefer to protect the investment of the phone from day one although I'd have preferred if the case was $10 instead. It would be more value for money to me at that price.

Conclusion.
All in all, it's not a bad case. I have yet to drop the phone in the few months of owning it but I'll update my review to mention how the case fared in a drop in the event that it does fall. I think I should also note that I have a screen protector on my screen.
5.0 out of 5 stars I love the silly thing. 23 August 2014

The case fits easily and all of the pieces and ports are lined up just where they are supposed to be. I have full access to all of the features of the phone and every button on it. The case feels good in the hand and is easy to grip. It provides reasonable protection for your phone. I would choose something different if I frequented a construction site.

I chose the citron color because I have some old original Amazon swag (cups, tote bage, etc...) and they are all in bright shades. With the logo on the back, it appears to me to be exactly what it is: a new Amazon toy.
2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't offer enough protection for the glass and edges 23 July 2015

Unfortunately this case somewhat failed us this week when it fell from a car seat onto the car park / road. The height would have been approximately one metre / 3 feet. The outcome was an Amazon Fire Phone with multiple scratches on the screen and multiple chips along the edges and corners of the phone. There was no major crack, and the scratches / chips are small, but I am confident that if a more protective case was used, we would have had almost none.

I compare this to another case we have for a Google Nexus 5 mobile phone. It is slightly thicker all around and has a more protective edge that "hugs" the phone and adds about 1mm / 0.05 inches to the edge of the phone. So, for example, if the phone is lying face-down / screen-down on a surface, the screen is actually about 1mm / 0.05 inches off the surface. This Amazon Polyurethane Case, unfortunately, does not offer this protection and results in significantly less protection for your phone when you do drop or bump it.

Aside from that, the case looks and feels very nice, so no issues there!
3.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price tag 22 June 2015

Great phone. The 3D stuff is ultimately a gimmick, but it's very pretty and works very well. It's a little heavy-handed with the integration to the Amazon store at times. It also doesn't have a power-saving mode, which is a mild nuisance. Everything else is brilliant: the design, the feel, the camera (seriously - the camera is wonderful), and more.

The real problem I and everyone else has with this phone is that it there's no (official) access to the Google Play store. It's fine that Amazon wants us to use their App Store and apps that they clearly invested a lot of money in, but the Amazon App Store lacks some popular choices. That limits the range of people the phone would appeal to.

All that being said, you won't find a better unlocked phone for $200 new - and if you're already a Prime subscriber, that basically becomes a $100 phone.
